What your watch brand says about you

Just as light comedy (nothing more), it was a very enjoyable read. Figured I’d share! Didn’t want to steal content, so just reposting the watchuseek link!

Funny read

I’d say I’m more of a Fifty Fathoms guy by the description, but you could insert Rolex instead

I like the Panerai one..."You are unusually familiar with the Italian Navy’s WWII operations, glossing over the period 1940-1943...and the Zodiac/Doxa.

That's pretty impressive, because there's an element of truth in all of them.

I'm a big fan of Bambino watches, even though I graduated from high school in 1967.

If the Bambino was available in those days, I probably would have owned one.

The most hilarious lines were:

"Rolex - Sub Type D: When you found out your wife was pregnant, you rushed to purchase a "birth year" Sub. Your son will not get to wear it until you are dead."

"Tudor: You assert that the Black Bay 58 is what Rolex “used to be”. You take pride in the quality of the bezel on your Pelagos. You either never will admit, or say all the time, that you wish you had a Rolex."

The Rolex descriptions were spot on with many of the newer members here

Quote:
Rolex - Sub (Ha!) Type A: ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX. YOU CAN’T BUY ANYTHING BUT A ROLEX IT’S THE ONLY THING WITH RESALE VALUE. HAVE YOU SEEN MY TWO-TONE SUB WITH THE CYCLOPS? I LIKE IT ‘CAUSE IT HAS WRIST PRESENCE.

The Richard Mille - you would have an Invicta if you weren't a billionaire really made me chuckle. The Hublot made me actually laugh out loud.

Guilty: "Rolex - Sub Type B: You frequently re-watch all Sean Connery Bond films, asserting that Daniel Craig is not a “real” Bond. You know the difference between the 1016 Caliber 1560 and 1016 Caliber 1570. You believe steel can
stretch with minimal effort. You prefer watches with rusted dials and no date. As you frequently speak full sentences consisting solely of reference numbers, it is assumed by passerby that you work for a secretive government agency."

What’s with the hate for Hublot?

I am still trying to figure out which Rolex I am... A,B,C or D. I’m not Italian American and I’m not a contractor, and I happen to think Daniel Craig is the best Bond.... B? C?

The Hublot one made me spit out my water

The Shinola one was spot on for one of the guys in my office. Guy lives in Encinitas but always talks about Detroit.

Hi everyone,

I'm the author of the original piece. Thanks so much for sharing it OP!

I'm glad everyone is enjoying it, and taking it in the good-humor it is meant to convey. It's a satire piece, so don't get too offended :)

It's satire, so I had to make each Rolex category distinct.

Hublot is actually doing some cool things. But a Hublot joke is the horological equivalent of jokes on French military victories.
