Jeep Grand Cherokee Hemi...

I’m all over the board here...anyone have a hemi Grand Cherokee? Not an SRT8. Looking at a Summit or Overland. Good or bad experience?

All over the board but I love reading it. In a few months I’ll be in the market as well, and though I have some ideas on what I want, I’m not sold on anything yet.

Sorry, no help here with the question.

Don’t you run a Toyota dealership? Nothing on the lot works for you?

We have the Pentastar V6 Limited 4x4. We got it new for 33500.

The V6 is more than adequate for Bay Area traffic and cruising down 5 to LA. It has a full leather interior and low range T-Case.

I would really see if you're okay with a much cheaper Limited before dropping 50-60k on a premium V8 model.

I’ve had a few. And never had a problem.

Really nice power too.

Food for thought. I’m going to pick up a GLC 300 and a GLC 43AMG today for two of my sales guys.

The 300 is a moderate spec for 44k. The 43AMG is loaded for 55k.

I’m getting a good deal as I’m buying two. But these guys are aggressive. Jeep rarely negotiates much and they are horrible to deal with.

As far as the hemi, I have had and still have a few hemi powered dodge rams as daily drivers and work trucks. Never have I had a problem with that specific power plant. Very reliable. What year are you looking at?

Had a hemi GC Trailhawk.

But a Max Care warranty if going beyond the 3/36 is a realistic possibility.

Loved the power.

Had issues with the air suspension 4x. Resulted in a new compressor, relay and control module. Total repair was about $4500. Covered by warranty, but it started acting up again at 35k miles. When the water pump went out (leaking coolant) at 35 k that was it for me.

Not sure you can get a summit or overland without the Quadra Lift, but if you can I am a solid maybe.

We have a JKU Wrangler and love it, so not car snobs or Jeep haters. Just a lot better vehicles for $50k if you are looking at a new one. We went to Lexus GX.

Demo is possible...my wife and daughter drive my suv and with a demo that can’t happen. I like having my own car for freedom. I’d be getting an Overland High Altitude. Drove one today with the 6 cylinder and was actually impressed. Road and drove great. The incentives on it really good.

Wife insisted she get 2014 Overland because 2013 Range Rover was in the shop about 1/2 the time we had it.

Jeep had about 5 recalls in a year. Bye bye Jeep, hello 2015 Escalade.

I liked the idea of the Jeep as it was 1/2 the dough of the others but I HATE taking cars into service.

GLS550 has been flawless, next up will be the new GLS580 it looks awesome

I'm curious about JEEP reliability circa 2019. I know in years past it has been suspect at best and would love to hear from the consumers if it has gotten better or if the perceived issues/stories are true or overblown?

Love the Jeep. It’s fully loaded with the hemi. Oil consumption is something to watch, went from a quart or two between changes when new to almost nothing now that it has 80 k + miles.

I bought the lifetime unlimited mile extended warranty and with all the bells and whistles, it’s been worth it. But if you’re not going to keep it for long lime, you may not need it.

After a Durango, and Jeep Liberty , this is my 3rd Grand Cherokee and I’ve been happy with all of them.

Get the Performance Exhaust on the 43 for resale purposes if you’re buying.

As for Hemi in the Grand Cherokee you won’t NEED it. The six is enough to get it moving. Keeps just aren’t that reliable based on what I’ve read.

I’ve had 3 GCs, a ‘05, ‘14, and now a ‘16 overland. My wife also has a ‘15 limited.

We’ve had no issues with any of them. My 05 had around 130k on it when I got rid of it. I took it off-road a fair amount as well.

Jeep’s short association with daimler improved the GC substantially. The high altitude will be my next one.

As mentioned, the V6 is more than adequate, although I’d be interested in driving a modern hemi to compare.

I replaced my 2004 Grand Cherokee Limited V8 with a 2018 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with Hemi. I considered the V6 but in the end, decided I like having the extra power when I want it. VERY glad I did. The Trailhawk is now 13 months old and I have 21,000+ miles on it. My only complaint (so far) is the shifter easily moves from D to N when I don't want it to. Good luck with your decision.

I’ve had 6 of them within the last 8 years or so as company vehicles. Had the V8 and EcoDiesels (Overland and Summit models). I’ve driven a few different SUV’s in the class and the Jeeps are hard to beat.

The only bad thing about Jeep is Chrysler. They skimp on quality to save money where they can. Use cheap plastic where they are able. The Grand Cherokees are overpriced for what you get. I had a 2013 loaded Overland. Traded it within a year.

I have a 2011 (first year of "new" model) and it's been an absolute dream. I have the v6 but its been the most reliable car I've ever owned.

Traded in a explorer sport for a 2018 grand Cherokee srt8, only regret is that I lost my licence with the first 6 months of owning the car due to tickets ,it’s one of the greatest cars I’ve ever owned, replaced the exhaust with a borla catback, and this beast sounds amazing and turns heads when I’m sport mode. I would highly recommend this car, it has everything the overland has and more

LOL, not just for resale, it sounds awesome. Have it on mine. One of the best features of the car.
