Bad vibe...gut feeling...

Without going into details what do you guys usually do with a bad vibe or bad gut feeling? Ride it out awhile and see how it goes or go with your gut and abort the mission?

Obviously circumstance depending but will usually go on a bit further to confirm suspicions whilst prepping exit strategies

Impossible to answer without context and consequence IMHO

That said my guts pretty good about these things, spidey senses rule my actions

I’m fairly pragmatic, and ask a lot of questions. Then I like to sit with the information and consider all the pros and cons.

If the situation doesn’t allow for this, or if I’m still on the fence, I will bounce the conundrum off of the two people I’d trust with my life, my wife and my dad.

x2 this is good advice. Communication is usually the key. You need to get to the bottom of what is giving you the bad vibe. What's causing the issue? Is it fixable - can it be explained?

Listening to that little voice in my head has saved my behind for many years at work. If something doesn’t seem right chances are that it’s not right.
That being said not everyone possesses this quirk.

Some of us are really good at presenting our mind with the very worst case scenario.

We do this to avoid danger. It's... natural. Genetic, even. And I'm pretty sure even in worst case scenario, you'd be able to handle it. You've handled everything so far, haven't you? But it often isn't worst case scenario. Would waiting it out be catastrophic? Chances are you've talked yourself mentally into the worst case scenario and you should wait and verify. If you trusted yourself in your instincts, you'd have cut and run already. But you haven't. So you're not always right, and you know it. Not right often enough, at least.

Wait and see.

Try to remove feelings, analyse more, and play the odds instead.

If you are sitting on QJ suited and your opponent goes over the top of your pre-flop raise, get out now - He has pocket Aces and you will hit a full house on the turn before he hits his (better full house) on the river.

I pride myself with my gut feelings. I have made life changing decisions with the gut feelings, like calling off a wedding 5 weeks before. The ex was going for her second fitting while I dropped the bomb. I knew eventually it was not going to last and was not worth fighting that gut feeling. I have made decisions in my business that have changed things forever with the gut......when my spidey senses go, it's usually bang on.
Don't fight the feeling.

I will grind and analyze the **** out of something, but sometimes that gut feeling overrides what the data says. I usually listen to my gut. When my gut and the data line up that is when you know it is perfect.

A few years ago I was shopping for a vintage gilt GMT. At that time about 12K for a nice example. Found a watch I liked, did a bunch of research on the seller--reference checks, the whole thing. Was very close to sending the money. Something did not feel right. Shortly after that, the seller was known to have scammed a bunch of people as he exited the watch scene. So in that case even though the data looked good, my gut told me different. Pretty lucky really. He got some good people and some that usually do not get got....

Agreed. I tend to be more analytical than reactive in most situations, depends though.

If it's about a woman, and she's hot, and you're not married (and hopefully she's not)...go for it.

If it's about anything else, go with your gut. Forget this analysis to paralysis. Shit or get off the pot my dad always said. Nothing worse than taking advice, acting on it, and it proves to be wrong because you didn't go with your gut.

Seems like good advice above. I would try to really hear what your gut or connected consciousness or however you may describe that which is Good. Sometimes it seems we have to go through sowing seasons and pain to be taken to the next level.

I’m not going to sugarcoat this. The last 4 years have been rough. But I am now at a better place than I ever have been and the transformation is unbelievable. And I am so thankful for it. A few days ago I almost broke down about a six year relationship ending ( we have an amazing son) . Had to leave the house. Bought a car with faith that I was loved and blessed and got an amazing job the next day. Had my first day and it was great. As they say it is darkest before dawn.

Not sure this message is applicable to OP but I hope this message encourages anyone who needs a bit of positivity when chips are down.

I know that "nagging feeling" has saved me from serious harm at least 4 times in my life, or the high likelihood of harm given what transpired afterwards. The sensor can go too far towards caution, but I heed it 90% of the time, unless my head tells me I am overreacting.

Sometimes my worst decisions have led to my greatest and most surprising opportunities.

I was very fortunate to have survived those bad decisions and in some cases the ultimate payoff was years in the making.

I'm not saying to not listen to your "inner voice," but....

I generally prepare to alter course immediately but the perspective of those opinions I trust are invaluable.

No simple answer, my guidance is if the downside risk is low don't overthink it, People do get stung with analysis paralysis.
