For the fact that you need to ask, I think you shouldn't.

All they will see is the glitz, whether it’s a $100 watch or a $100,000 watch. I think that’s really all anyone sees

I personally would and do wear expensive watches to a family reunion and don't feel bad doing so at all. I wore a 12k Euro Rolex to a family reunion in Georgia last year, a country (not state) where a median annual income per month is about 400USD and I know full well many members of my extended family make less than that and have financial issues. I wouldn't go out of my way to wear something expensive to rub it in their faces, but I wouldn't go out of my way and wear something other than what I want to wear that day, just because it's an expensive piece of jewelry that might upset them.

So you don’t want to “look rich” in front of family, cause apperently, that’s what you think a Rolex does... how about in general public, do you wear it thinking that it will make you rich in front of strangers?

My advise, rethink your Rolex mentality. Can’t imagine a time or place (as long as safe) I wouldn’t wear it. It’s just a watch, and if you think it defines who you are, than you are very wrong. It gives you enjoyment so enjoy it. No one will notice anyway and if they do, so be it.

That's hard to argue in principal but I still would simply not wear it to such a gathering. It's basic kindness.

I’d leave it at home especially if it will make you self conscious and take away from enjoying your family time

Wear a Rolex without a cyclops and most people won't notice it.

Asking strangers on the internet, how to present yourself to your own family - seems legit.

Only you know how you should act around your family. Wear it or not; it shouldn't matter and if it does then the watch is not your only concern mate.

If by chance it is a Platona, I don’t thing the general public even knows it would be anything more than a chronograph with a blue face. So many watches these days imitate Rolexes or just simply look the same. I would wear it and enjoy with the caviat that if you really think someone could be offended by it if they figured out it cost as much as their house, then pass and wear something generic or nothing at all. Just my nickel.

Surprised by how many say not to wear it. Do you change your car and clothes too? Sorry but I am going to be myself and wear what I like. If you cannot be yourself around family...

I wore my new watch over the holidays in close quarters with about 15 people over the course of 3 days and not a single person noticed. And my family is not shy, if someone took note they would have just said something nice and loud for the whole room to hear.

Last watch a family member noticed on me was a Movado.

I wore mine and did not give it a second thought. All family reunions are like that - some are more fortunate than others. At my reunion a couple years ago two of my uncles had the exact same DJ two-tone as I had and we were comparing how accurate they are. Few people realize the value and if they do they would probably appreciate the craftsmanship.

Drop it off at my house on the way over and I'll lend you my AK 14000, they'll think it's a Seiko.

There are certain parts of my family that I will not wear an expensive watch around, For the sole reason that I dont want to look like in showing off. I try to stay humble around that side of the family.
