People can think what they like. That is their right.

People who think someone's success is somehow stealing from them will find something to be angry about once they have picked you as the target of their hate.

Some of your family sound like assholes. Personally, I would have cut them loose years ago.

the side of my family i would try and be humble around all spend their money on crazy expensive modifications for their offroad trucks. they would wonder how i manage to blow so much cash on a watch but then continue talking about their 15k suspension mods on their 60k trucks. smh... this is why i just wear my watch whenevers.

people spend money on the most random things.

Since you are asking, I think this is a genuine concern of yours and I would just leave the watch at home and enjoy the day as some others have commented.

I have somewhat of a similar situation, but this involves more along the lines of hanging out with my boss(s).

I'd wear it. I don't think there's any reason to be embarrassed that you have the financial means to afford a nice watch.

As long as you're not walking around during the reunion talking about it or "flaunting it"

Take a note of answers like this.

And do the opposite.

Thoughts on wearing a Rolex to a family reunion?

Some might disagree but I’m down for wearing this watch anywhere but the gym. There really is no occasion where the watch is out of place.

Asking for advice about watches on a watch site makes a lot of sense.

Asking advice regarding social situations (or whatnot) on a watch site doesn’t make much sense.

Currently, there are 227,487 members on this site from all over the world. Regardless of the question, you are bound to get a plethora of various answers mostly from a bunch of strangers of whom you know nothing about. And you’ll probably end up no closer to a decision in the end.

Advice is best sought from the most qualified source. Again, if it’s a watch question, this is the place.

But if it’s a social question, ask someone you know and respect. If you ask someone whom you admire, whose judgement you have found to be true and solid, you’ll get the best advice to meet your needs.

That’s my advice! :)

The fact that you are even thinking about it is an easy decision. Leave it home...it’s a day. Personally, I don’t think it would matter, but since you do, leave it home and enjoy the day

You need to get through this event with as little drama as possible.

You know what is going to happen if you wear it, especially the Platona.

Someone will see the watch, compliment you on it, ask you how much it cost.

They will see it's ROLEX and realize that you have a $75K watch and they, unfortunately, are living in a tin can.

Then they will wonder why you aren't helping them and things will get uncomfortable.

If you don't wear a watch or wear something less....obvious...then you stand a much better chance of avoiding problems you clearly don't want.

Easy solution, wear your watch. If anyone says anything pull out your rainbow Daytona and say “check this one out” lol

If this was a car forum, and he asked if he should drive his orange Lamborghini to a family gathering who are all nice people, but struggle with putting food on the table or having a place to sleep at night, would we say “yes, that’s a good idea”? I’d probably reco driving the daily that day.

I’m a car and watch guy by nature but I can go a decent stretch of days without either of them. This is a situation where that would apply.

Agreed.

I would leave the watch and Lambo at home for that one day.

I want to say you worked for it and earned it so why should you adjust your lifestyle to please others and not yourself.

BUT, everyone’s situation is different. If someone from your family asked to borrow money in the past and you said you didn’t have it but then you pull up to the scene with a Rolex? *Drama has entered the chat. So if you want to play it safe and keep potential drama out, don’t wear anything.

Whatever you decide to do, just remember that only one person needs to notice your watch for everyone to hear the name "Rolex."
