Watch bezels.

Hi, my 1st post here. The subs got from 0 to 15 minutes and sea dwellers got from 0 to 60 minutes. Now, my question is does it matter?

I don't want to get a sub and then after some years wish I had gotten the sea dweller instead or vice versa. Moreover, is there a manual which gives an idea of all the functions of the bezel etc.

The Sea Dweller is more technical, each minute gets a marker for easier legibility.

The Submariner, although having fewer minute markers, highlights the 15 minute period, something divers seem to value.

If you are a diver, then you would already know the requirements you would need. Since you don't I wouldn't worry about changing your mind over that differentiating feature.

Good luck and enjoy!

In my case, I got the Sea Dweller 40mm and that served as my diver in the collection. With that, I never felt the need to get a modern Sub or the other references, with due deference to those into multiple diver collections. I have an old 5-digit Sub gifted to me by my parents in the early 1990s. That will stay in the collection forever.

Thanks all for responding. I'd like to leave future possibilities open to swim, snorkel, dive etc. The bezel has many secrets in terms of usage. The triangle at the top overlaps on both of them but anyone got a caliper?

Unless you just prefer the aesthetics, or are diving with trimix, you don’t need the features of the sea dweller.

You don’t need the 60min graduated bezel either. The sub is already over-engineered for recreational diving.

I'll get the sea dweller maybe after some time I'll figure out the dials by myself. In the mean time I'm studying a printed (on paper) sea dweller. My AD has none of them in stock for the time being.

Buy which one you like better. In terms of function it won't make any difference

I like the SD and DSSD with more minute markers on the bezel but it drives my OCD crazy that there are 5 markers from 0-15min then 4 markers from 15-60min.

Even if you’re diving Trimix you don’t need the helium escape valve of the sea dweller. It’s not used underwater at all, only useful if you are spending several days in a pressurized chamber as part of a professional saturation dive.

Worn on the right hand, if in a dangerous part of town it's useful to press the crown and shoot out webs, another person wearing a sea dweller just watch where your swinging.
