Without the DJ, I am afraid there would be no Rolex as we know it.

Easily the most popular model they have, and easily recognizable anywhere in the world.

Are Datejusts looked down upon?

The only problem with DJ’s is holding resale value. Otherwise they are a wonderful Rolex.

I don't think any Rolex is looked down on by anyone ever on this forum. I do think sports and new models are overly fetishised. Fortunately Rolex has one level of quality across the range unlike other brands, mentioning no names.

I know the DJ41 is technically smaller than a 41mm, but just wish it wore a tad smaller in the wrist; the lug to lug must be quite long. Apart from that, I think they are great, with fantastic dial options, and a choice of bezel and braclet.

My combination would be blue dial, smooth bezel on jubilee. But the question is, will the blue dial become dated over time? My second option would probably be Rhodium or Silver, which may be a little more timeless.

Yea that’s sort of what I mean. The professional models do appeal to many on this forum but there is a tone in some threads when OP’s are referred to as entry level. I just see it as an option for someone who likes that style opposed to an entry level option which sort of infers they didn’t have the funds to buy a Daytona.

Many seem to think getting any Datejust you want is easy right now. In the last month I’ve visited 4 AD’s in Vancouver and 2 in Australia and not 1 Blue or Black DJ, fluted, oyster or jubilee in sight. I was finally. Allows by my AD offering me a blue one that had not hit the display yet and I bought it. I then sold my black one to a guy having a hard time finding one.

I’d wear a SS Datejust over a Daytona any day. It’s just my preference. Maybe it is just me, but I do feel if you’re not buying a hulk or gmt it’s not really a big deal.

I love my DJ41; with the blue face & fluted bezel it is a classic dress timepiece. While I love my BLNR, in my opinion, it is more sportier. Both look amazing in a suit or jeans; but the DJ really pops with a great suit.

Again, just my opinion, yours may vary :)

Absolutely not, the blue dial is timeless and a great option.

I like them so much I had to get one of each flavor. I laugh at the "entry level" connotation, new models retail higher than a Sub. Just because grey prices are ridiculous the DJ and DJII are far from an entry level to anything.

I have a couple of Rolex sport models already, my next purchase will be a date adjust 36. I personally think it is such a well rounded watch.

The DJ really encompasses everything in a Rolex: simplicity, beautiful aesthetics, functionality, wearability, and yes value. I think it’s a perfect one and done reference.

I encourage you to check out Reddit. Lots of younger people are showing off their Datejusts and Oyster Perpetuals.

I have a DJ 16233 that I inherited from my dad when he passed away. The watch reminds me of my dad and brings back fond memories when I wear it. Will always keep that watch.

My first Rolex was to be a DJ 36 w hidden clasp Jubilee and fluted Bezel. The 3 month quest to get it ended up making it my second Rolex simply because I got an Explorer to wear while waiting for the DJ. But it is a mainstream Rolex that every collector should own.

When the light catches the fluted bezel just right..... oh man.

The jubilee bracelet is the most comfortable watch bracelet made. Overall the DJ 36mm is one of the most classic watches you can buy - and they are pretty reasonable compared to the sports models.

Likewise - I got the DJ41 when I had the next opportunity. Explorer 2 was my first Rolex.

I suppose the younger generations are more attracted to the professional models because of the (relatively) masculinity and thus generate my hype.

IMHO, a true Rolex fan should own (or at some point, owned) a DJ.

I like them so much that my first Rolex was a Dj36, blue dial/Oyster bracelet... bought my wife one a 79160 white dial/oyster bracelet, the same day.... my second Rolex is a DJ36, black dial/oyster bracelet... recently bought a 6694 Oysterdate for his birthday, silver dial/oyster bracelet....So, I guess I really do like the DJ Rolex... Id love another TT with the classic fluted bezel...
