Thoughts on New PM Daytona
I saw a picture of the new white gold Daytona with steel face from Baselworld a couple of weeks ago and rushed to my local AD in London, figuring I would never get a SS Daytona without paying £5000 above list here in the UK I went ahead put my name on the waiting list (how many others are on the list the AD wouldn't say).
Since then I have noticed that this model has not appeared in any threads (so is it not a popular watch?). My gut instinct (and limited knowledge of the Rolex market) is telling me that historically PM watches in the UK are not that popular and you can get big discounts from Grey dealers. I am now thinking that my heart has ruled my head on this one and perhaps I should wait. Anybody got any thoughts on new model PM Rolex watches if you should wait until all the hype is over? |

I love the piece you're referring to. I'd wait though. There are always discounts on PM Rolex due to the price tag limiting demand.

Welcome Michael to TRF A great looking watch for sure.
Leave your name on the list. If you buy somewhere else, you can always call the AD and have your name removed. We have a lot of members in the UK here on the Forum that can better answer your questions. All I can say is it's always better to wait for the hype to die down. Being a PM model, it should take too long.

Resellers already have this marked up 50% like the SD43 and SkyD so discounts will be tough to come by for a while, as prices of Rolexes in UK are always on the rise these days, esp new models.
Nice vid of the WG while we wait. https://www.instagram.com/p/BSDWIm6F3rm/?hl=en |

If you're referring to the new oyster flex models, I like them a lot. The WG in particular, has really piqued my interest.
But I do think you're better off waiting for a good deal on the secondary market. |

I think the new WG Ceramic Oysterflex Daytonas are winners also, they look really good and I'd sooner pick that up if I was deep in the SS Daytona line.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the YG as think it will look a lot better on the wrist than in pics, but the WG looks to be a great purchase though historic PM discounts are really getting squeezed in the UK as you say. |
