Rolex 118206 dial color

Hello all, im new to TRF and i finally talked myself into buying a platinum 118206. Im really stuck between the plain black dial, silver, or the ice blue glacier one. It really could go any way for me since i like them all, though i do think the glacier color is more unique than the others, so just looking to hear what you guys think. The pics are the exact ones im looking at. Yes, i like diamonds

I would go for glacier. Only available in platinum. It just goes really well with that metal.

Ice blue is unique to platinum models. I'd go that route.

Silver as first pick, followed by glacier.

Since you like them all visually - what would be the secondary deciding factor?

With diamonds, there won't be any "flying under the radar" with the Black dial. But they do blend-in better with the Silver...

So I'm guessing you'll pick the Ice Blue.

Agree with the ice blue; if you're going platinum that's the one to get.

I find that the bezel makes a difference; in platinum, with the smooth bezel the extra 'pop' of color is really nice for visual interest. OTOH, in white gold with the fluted bezel I prefer the silver; the bezel gives more visual impact, and the more monochromatic silver of the dial works.

OP:

I think an important clarification needs to be made. Glacier Blue and Ice Blue are not the same. Glacier Blue is a bit deeper blue in color and those dials came out before the newer Ice Blue dials were introduced.

For the 118206 you are looking at the Glacier Blue Dial, not Ice Blue.

It is a small but important distinction; since the dial colors seemed to be used interchangeably in this thread, I thought it best to offer this information up.

Both are totally gorgeous and perfect for the PT Day-Date.

Yes i get what you are saying. I say a similar thread on here discussing this and the glacier blue is definitely more vibrant. The ice blue looks silver in certain lighting. Thanks for the clarification. Anyway, thanks everyone for their input, it's a close race between the silver and glacier for me but this could change when i see them in person. A dealer near me has these 3 in stock and im going to go try them on next week and make my decision. Will post pics ASAP. Thanks again

Can't go wrong with any of them. But, agree with your decision to go with the 36mm.

The glacier really pops, especially in natural light. If you end up changing your mind down the road, dials can be easily changed. Good luck with your decision!
