16800? 168000? Weird clasp? Need some expert eyes.

Hey guys, stopped at a local pawn shop today where I sometimes buy vintage Seiko watches and the salesman wanted to show me this Sub. I didn't have my springbar tool, so didn't pop the bracelet out to check the serial and reference. The salesman clearly didn't feel comfortable doing it, so didn't push for him to do it either. Can you guys help identify? The clasp seems odd...but might be from an older reference. No recess for the lock. In the pics, the hands appear lighter, but in person that was not the case. Not sure why it shows up that way in the pics. Also, the warranty papers were not present. All other booklets, but no warranty paper.

Anyway, here are the pics. Thanks in advance!

The clasp is for a 9315 Oyster which preceded the 93150. The bracelet sections also have folded links on 9315 vs solid links on the 93150 bracelet.

Ahh perfect! Thanks! I knew someone here would know. They must have swapped out that clasp at some point. The years that clasp was used doesn't seem to mesh with the apparent age of the watch.

I'm no expert but perhaps is an aftermarket clasp. I thought they all have the recess for opening the fliplock.

Actually, I have since discovered its a clasp from a 9315 bracelet. I'm a dummy and posted this in vintage on accident. Someone there recognized it.

I think I'm going to have to remove the bracelet to see just what the heck this thing is. The out the door price is $4400. I'm not sure that's a good enough deal to hassle with it though.

The watch looks good, but the bracelet has a lot of stretch in it that even my 1680 doesn't have; choose careful.

Yeah, I think its a no-go. Its clearly been polished, though not a ton. The polished that was done on it though isn't great. It's your standard jewelry store job.

I think I'll keep hunting.

The mis-matched color of the hands and dial would bother me.

That would be correct. 1980s was well into the 93150 bracelets.

Not bad, but not worth the asking price, too many small issues.

Actually, in person there was no noticeable difference. Kind of odd they look so different in the pics...
