Greetings.
I came across this watch when looking through some watches that my late father-in-law owned. He was given this watch when he retired from an oil refinery in West Texas in the 70s. The back is engraved with a message to him from the company. I chose not to attach a photo of that. The original bracelet was missing. There was a crappy Speidel metal band on it. I removed it and put on a leather Zulu strap. Don't hate me. I don't have the wherewithal to restore it to factory condition. It started up after winding it, and seems to keep good time. It shows its age. There are a couple of scratches on the crystal, but those don't distort the view of the dial. To me, the heirloom factor is more important than the collector's value. |

It would help if I looked more carefully. Col-Tex recognized him for 25 years service. There is a date of Mar 1, 1937. I assume this was the date he started working there. Regardless, it's a pleasant surprise if this watch is from the 60s. |

Welcome and wear that piece with pride !
Find a local watchmaker that can at least service the movement on an early Rolex, and leave everything else alone. The lubricants could be dry and cause damage. Shouldn't cost much. |
