Removing a gold datejust bezel???

Greetings to all,

I am in the process of trying to exchange bezels on two acrylic crystal datejusts where the gold bezel is on the model which is meant to be fully stainless steel and the two tone model has the stainless steel bezel.

I have removed the stainless steel bezel easily but am worried to apply same technique of using push type bezel knife in removing the gold bezel, purely because gold is much softer and I do not want to risk warping the bezel which would then not close properly on the crystal. I have never removed a gold bezel.

I tried pushing it out with my fingers from inside the crystal to apply even pressure but I backed off when it would not co operate.I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions to calm my nerves in what would be the best approach. With thanks!!!!
