Any of you guys ever regret your decision?

I am about to buy my first Rolex and you always see people saying how happy they are with their purchase. Any of you guys not happy with what you bought?

I am torn between a black or white Explorer ii. Since I can only buy one not sure what to do.

I wouldn't say I ever regretted a decision when I bought my first Rolex I bought an Explorer I wanted a watch with a date but at the time I did not care for the cyclops.

Only later did I discover the Seas-Dweller that has a date and no cyclops did I regret the Explorer, no but I probably would have not have bought it had I know about the SD...so instead of beating myself up about it I bought a SD.

Are you leaning at all one way or the other?

Yes, a little bit , when I bought from AD and found out about David SW here, anyway, not too much . It's like half half, I don't know . A little confused, not 100% satisfaction, not a regret either

Almost.

I ended up getting what I loved instead of what others suggested and am so glad I did. Many times I have thought how disappointed I would have been if I went a different route.

I've seen the suggestion that you flip a coin. After the coin decides, ask yourself if you are happy or sad about the outcome. Then you will know which to get.

I was so close to making a regrettable decision. I almost bought an SS date brand new instead of my SD. They were the same price. That date would now be worth somewhere in the low 3000's while my SD is worth about the same as what I paid for it. Phew!

Both dials are great..

I've had regret with some past purchases but usually non Rolex watches that I either returned or quickly sold.
The Expii is a winner either way IMO .

This is a good question. Every large major purchase I've ever made including my Mercedes, my house, etc...I've always had just a bit of buyer's remorse right after. You know the feeling, thinking "boy, that was a lot of money, I hope this is worth it."

When I bought my watch after years of my friend's urging (he is a collector and a major WIS), I had to call him and say "this is the first time I've spent $ like this and didn't have 1 OUNCE of questioning or buyer's remorse." He laughed and agreed.

Buy it, wear it, marvel at it's design, and be happy!

No regrets. I spend lots of time learning [my favorite part] what works for me and then I go after it.

I bought mine fast as my old watch quit. 214270 Explorer 1, first Rolex. I would have considered a Sub no-date had I known of its existence...not a cyclops fan. But now that I have tried one on, I am confident I got the right watch for me.

I don't regret the purchase in any way. I wish however, I had more time to enjoy the research and buying process, which is a LOT of the fun!

My only regret was not getting one earlier in life. That's okay though, it just means I have some catching up to do

No regrets here.

I adore my Sub. I am looking to expand the collection though. I hope i don't regret any of those purchases.

But alas, i am the type of person who obsesses over something before i make a big ticket purchase- whether it be a car, watch, house etc. I find that you get let down less when you have "explored" every option

Flat4Boxer, you moniker and comment reminded me, as Muhammad Ali said: " If you think the same at 50 as you did at 20, you wasted the last 30 years of living"! OLDER AND WISER!

I have the 16610lv, and I love it. I frequently browse the for sale section and the internet looking for something else I would like, and while there are a lot of watches out there that would satisfy ONE of my standards, nothing satisfies all of them enough to make it my one and only daily wearer.

Example... Ulysse Nardin or Blancpain Fifty Fathoms... they look to me a *bit* nicer, but I don't think they can take the beating my sub can.

To be totally honest. I do regret my second rolex watch or just that I now own two I guess. Having funds tied up in two watches just does not make as much sence as it did a few years ago with the changing maket place, searching for a bigger home, everything going up and up in price. I have considered selling one of my two rolex watches more and more. Either my sub Lv or airking.

When I bought my first Rolex I regretted not getting EXACTLY what I wanted. Specifically, bought a Date instead of a Datejust because I was anxious to wear one out the door and the AD didn't have the style I wanted in a Datejust. That regret lasted 21 years until I finally bought my grail. Sounds like your dilemma is simply one of dial color. That makes it tough. At least you have settled on the model. Personally, I prefer a white dial because I think it looks better and it's easier to see the hands.

Regrets? I hope not! Okay maybe that I didn't get it sooner. But that's okay, I finally got my grail.

I have had my Rolex for only 2 months. Haven't regretted a second of it. I wanted one my whole life, and now that I have it I love it. If you are like me and can have only one, be sure to choose carefully.

My only regrets with Rolex have been selling them too quickly.
I sold my GMT IIC after a month for $4400 (bought from TRF for $4500), my black dial Daytona, 2 x Sub LV's and 3 x 14060Ms. I should have kept them all.

Good luck with your purchase... as for dial, I'd go for black. :-)
