GMT II 16710 or Sub 114060
Hi All,
I'm looking to finish my Rolex collection and wanted some input on what might be a better choice. I know to each his own but I figure I would see arguments for both. I really love the Pepsi GMT II 16710, a later serial with no lug holes. I feel its a classic watch with a lot of history and still looks similar to the original GMT models. I don't mind the newer 116710 with the polished center links and lugs but I have a Daytona 116520, covers that look. I do like the newer ceramic dials on sports models. I just got a 90's Sub 16610 so I was thinking maybe get the Sub 114060 to cover both Sub models. I figure price range is close for either the 16710 and 114060, I'm looking to spend under 6K. So question is do a add a completely different sports model with a classic look or go for the newer look of a 114060? As far as keeping its value or appreciation, will one be better than the other? My other Rolex is the Explorer I 214270, a 4th watch will fill my winder to capacity and not bother me every time I look at it |

It's getting pretty hard to find a decent 16710 for under $6K, and I don't think you'll find many 114060s for that price, either.

As for the 114060, that is a different watch entirely. Different bracelet, different bezel for a different purpose as well as being ceramic vs. aluminum, plus no date feature or ability to track a second time zone. OP, really depends on what you are looking for in your Rolex but, in my opinion, a classic (to use your term) never gets old. |

Tough call. That's where I'm at with my second watch. Every time I think it will be a 16710 Pepsi I see some beautiful shots of the Sub. Mind made up, I then see a creamy patina Pepsi with lug holes and think that's the one. I'll probably have to flip a coin.

16710, in Pepsi colors... there's a reason they brought the blue/red bezel back--and in WG no less.
