I don't care if it's unpopular or just polarizing, I absolutley love my discontinued black dial Milgauss. I'm not bothered one bit that many people don't like it.

I've enjoyed this thread mainly for the pics.

Right. It's probably no good any more. Same for the YG President sitting beside it. 😆

I bet the battery in each of them needs replacing.

Ahh , detect sarcasm. Im just saying that the fact that it has been there so long is a good bargaining tool. Many people have probably tried it on over the years. some of the stickers might also be missing. Im sure they would love to sell it. Take advantage of that !!

The GV is one of my favorite and I truly believe that the milgauss model shows how Rolex can be witty on their collections, imo. However, PCLs are not everyone's favorite.

I went to the AD yesterday, and was surprised to see the Black Milgauss with clear crystal still in stock! (how's that for unpopular!) I tried on both the stubby exp and the Mil.

Absolutely loved both.

The Mil is a much larger watch, but it wears really comfortably. It has a very clean dial, with just the right amount of color to make the dial come to life. And I love the squiggly hands set against the stern black background. The PCL doesn't bother me much either. And in my opinion, the black dial is rather subdued, thanks to the matte black dial.

In comparison, the explorer is much more boring. But, I am still leaning towards it because of the size.

Needless to say, the AD was looking at me with puppy eyes, really really hoping I take either, but especially the black Mil.
Well, if you opt for the black dial, there is always this option...

David SW has a black dial 116400GV...

...in unworn condition; plastics in place, on his website for $6875.

The orange and green is what got me.

Actually like the second hand. Unique in the Rolex line up.

Does seem to wear more top heavy than the DSSD IMO. Less bulky though.

Also sets off airport metal detector. Hence I don't travel with it.

I don't buy the $ argument. If that's the case, why would anyone buy a PM piece? It's all about want and adds variety to the collection. A fun piece for me.

Good points. I'm sure the AD would like to see any watch sitting for ages leave the case...but I've also talked with some stubborn dealers who have the patience of Job.

Do you travel in Europe at all ? Every time I fly the watch I'm wearing has to be taken off and put in the tray so it can go through the scanner !

With the exception of my polar, all my swatches have black dials. Considering a white Milgauss.

Mainly North America. Allowed to leave my watch on most of the time. Maybe because I am TSA pre checked?

Can't remember having to take off my watch in Europe last time I was there a few years back. Will find out in a few months. Maybe things have changed?

I'm flying almost every week and mainly in Europe. Almost keeping my watch on my wrist for every control without any issue !

Didn't Omega just do a Milgauss clone? Can't be too unpopular.

Why is the Milgauss so unpopular?

I think it's classy as all get out.

Was watching megamind with my son today and noticed the watch he uses to clone another person image reminded me of the Milgauss. Albeit one with complications, but the hands.

I must say, the old 1019 is an eye-catcher (borrowed pic from Christie's). I have yet to see one in the wild - modern or vintage.

I really wanted one in 2008 and thought the concept really matched my work in the IT field, but when I went to my AD and tried it on I did a 180. It just didn't look good on me. I walked out with a GMT2C instead.
