I know lighting alters everything but they do look dramatically different. Sorry to sound like a broken record as I have said this in another thread. The reason I'm so concerned is I've put a deposit down for a blue but when I see it in the flesh if it looks like the petrol blue I think I'll be switching to black SS or maybe even a rolesor. The dial is driving me mad, I've a feeling I'm going to be really disappointed when I see it in the flesh. I want it to be a really rich blue like the one that has the 17 in front of it and like the 116613LB sunburst. Fortunately my AD said if I don't like the blue we should be able to 'work something out' and switch to the black if I want so I'm not panicking just yet. Wish I could just beam forward 6 months

That is the signature of the Rolex blue dial; it looks very different in different lights. It ranges from black to royal blue very much depending on the lightring. The Rolex catalog (on line) shows a single model in blue.

The real question is what dial are you getting.

From the Rolex site:

Rolex is introducing new versions of the Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller, its classic watch for world travellers, for the first time in a choice of yellow Rolesor or white Rolesor versions – combining 904L steel and 18 ct yellow or white gold. The dials now feature rectangular index hour markers and longer hands, as well as a Chromalight display with long-lasting luminescence, which enhances legibility.

Rolesor, A Marriage
of gold and steel
Rolesor, the combination of gold and steel on a Rolex watch, has been a signature feature of the brand since 1933, when the name was registered. It is an auspicious meeting of two metals: one, noble and precious, attractive for its lustre and stability; the other, highly resistant, known for its strength and reliability. All of these qualities perfectly mirror the elegance and performance that come together in a Rolex watch. On the yellow Rolesor version of the Sky-Dweller, the bezel, the winding crown as well as the centre bracelet links are made of 18 ct yellow gold, while the middle case and the outer links of the bracelet are in 904L steel.
On the white Rolesor version, the bezel is made of 18 ct white gold, while the crown, middle case and bracelet are in 904L steel.
I stand corrected, didn't know it was WG on the stainless models

Rolex has never made a fluted bezel in stainless.

I initially thought the SS white was the best looking, now the black dial is growing on me. I wish I could have both

My "concern" with the blue is...does the 24hour wheel match the rest of the dial?

The 24 hr. wheel doesn't seem to be a burst but flat blue. I suspect the same occurs with all the burst dials.

I agree. And for me that would rule out the blue.

That doesn't bother me for some reason. I think the sub dial ring looks slightly different from the dials on the blue, black and champagne. I actually quite like that contrast.

I added that is likely true for all the burst dials after you posted. On the other hand there is a contrasting 24hr. dial on all the PM models as well. I like the minor contrast. I personally like all the burst dials. I really like the champagne one and the TT. Still considering a possible upgrade. The non-burst white also seems to have some contrast.

I was waiting to cast my vote until after hearing different opinions. Since I already have the order in for blue and nothing said here as dissuaded me I guess it will stay as blue along with the majority (with blue garnering more votes than the other models combined)!!!

As a owner of TT black, I think blue looks best. As first time Rolex owner I stood no chance to get SS Blue so got what was offered.
I think all six variations are done very well
