WG BLRO vs. 21mm bent steel pins to accommodate strap?

Hi guys,

I fell in love with the hermes straps, and decided that I wanted try out one of these on my WG BLRO. Finally I got the strap, and asked my local AD to help me fit it. Unfortunately, the strap is just a little bit too thick to move freely, and gets caught by the case with the original white gold pins.

My AD suggested to use 21mm steel pins, bend them slightly and fit the strap. This way with the bend pins, the strap doesn't catch the case.

My concerns are that the bend pins will eventually widen the pin holes in the white gold case, especially since the white gold is softer than the rolex steel pins.

What do you say? Is this a disaster happening or is it a good solution?

Surely the leather will soften with use?

It probably will, but he suggested not to use the original WG pins to avoid bending these with the strap.

Then go with some SS spring bars?

We went with slightly longer SS spring bars (21mm), and bent them slightly.

This works well. The question is, will this solution damage the pin holes in the white gold case?

Are the original pins actually white gold?

Steel is harder than WG but I wouldn't over think this. Chances are the leather will start to look tired and want changing before these bent bars do any irreversible damage. Relax and enjoy a beautiful watch!

My thought exactly. Just don't want to deliberately damage the watch.

Next question is, can lug holes be restored?

If you really don't want, put the oyster back.

Yes, by changing the case ... as it's just white gold, you could have a new one for around 15k$
