Like the black dial over the white dial (unless it is a Panda) on the Daytona

....I knew there was a reason I liked your posts so much.

There are very few watches that could take my Submariner off my wrist. Though I've been trying for several years to do just that, I never succeeded. And it's because there has never been a Rolex good enough to supplant the Sub.

The new Black Daytona Ceramic finally checks all the boxes. If you think about it, it's the only real step-up to the SS Submariner that a) closely resembles it and b) isn't a subtle bezel color shift like a GMT. Sure, there are more expensive options out there, but if you took a Submariner, added complication, added a more sophisticated black bezel, added a slightly different oyster bracelet....you wind up with a Black Daytona Ceramic.

Don't forget a great movement with significant power reserve update.

No question, the internals too.

For me though, the priority has been the look/feel and just wanting something different than my beloved 16610 yet still similar and despite decades of trying I just couldn't get there.

I think the reason I gravitated to the black Daytona is because it is (in simple form) a grown-up Submariner. Steel case, steel oyster bracelet, black bezel, add pushers, add polish, it's the Submariner sequel I've always looked for but couldn't find. The black bezel is what got me to realize this, the prior SS Daytona never felt Submariner-like to me.

Honestly. My favorite watch. Could be my one and only if if if.
If only I could see it better.

I do love the look of the black ceramic Daytona.
