HI
I have purchased two Rolexes within the past year new a Sub 116613LB & a Daytona 116503. The problem I have they gain 5/6 seconds overnight. I don't wear them on a daily basis maybe once a week. The question I have would they keep time more accurately if I wore them more often. They are just left in their boxes & wound every two to three days. I would be interested to hear your opinions on this

5-6 seconds overnight, or over a full 24-hour day?

Maybe orient the boxes so the watch is on it's side? I think crown down will slow it, crown up even more. If you store them face-up they'll run faster I've recently learned.

If all they see is a wind every 2 or 3 days you will see erratic timing.

Watches will be most accurate when they are in a stable state of wind, such as they see on the wrist.

It is impossible for them to maintain any state of accuracy if they are constantly winding down, then being wound up several days later..

Thank you so much for the advice it seems to make perfect sense I just never looked at it that way I will definitely put to use all the tips I get here but you can understand why I was concerned having read a lot of the articles on TRF about +2/-2 a day

Have to agree Larry trouble today many have no idea how a mechanical watch even works. All they can see now is this new -2+2 syndrome and expect this to happen every single day no matter if worn or off the wrist. But in the real world what does this new spec mean, well Rolex regulates on a machine and at time of testing movement met said spec..But there are many variables to overcome while off the machine and on the wrist or stored with various mainspring power-reserve etc.First the movement is constantly affected by the earth's gravity, metal expansion and contraction, temperature variations, mainspring power-reserve, subtle changes in lubrication and friction, shocks, and so on all watches will be more accurate when worn consistently .

Well, if I was only being worn once a week I wouldn't run right either!

Seriously, try wearing them for about a week or so with one manual wind of say 40 turns. Then let us know.

I just want to thank the person who posted this. He told me what positon to leave the boxes with my Watches in them to stop them running fast & it worked great my Watches aren't running fast anymore their keeping great time. Before my Watches were running 5/6 fast over a day & it was getting to me when Rolex said it should be +2/-2 a day for new Watches But thanks to the person who posted this the Watches are keeping great time. So if your Watches are running fast just take the advice in this thread
