If you intend to buy a watch now to hand down in 18 - 20 years then the Omega is not the one.

Look for a Pepsi 16710 or a SubDate LV (not the c).

Might as well make the investment worth while.

At the time i bought my LVc, i could have picked up an LV all day for less money than what i spent. I kick myself now seeing how steep the prices on the LV have risen in recent months.

I see the DJ2 is catching up in votes. One determining factor is how good of a deal i can find on a DJ2 since they're now discontinued. There's always a deal to be found thats too good to pass up.

I greatly appreciate everyone's input so far and had no idea it would get this in depth. Thanks my TRF friends.

Speedmaster Pro in hesalite gets my vote. Both are beauties, though.

Why do you prefer DJII over DJ41? 41 has many improvements that are worth buying it for. Speedy is a legend. Though if i were you i would consider Speedy 60 Ann. Limited edition, quite close to CK2915. Plus value would definitely climb up to the roof in no time.

I don't think it is a fair compairson either based on price or function. You can buy the Speedmaster for less than half what you can get the DJ II or DJ 41. Fit, finish and function are differant. If you wanted a fun watch that is a classic I would go Speedmaster. If you want a more dressy watch with great wrist presence go DJ II. I would go DJ II and pick up a Speedmaster down the road for a fun watch.

Would have voted for the Omega - but that DJII is my favorite configuration.

So either and you won't be disappointed - fire at will and enjoy

Being a Rolex forum, one would assume that anything Rolex would win in a poll. However, my personal observation is that the Speedy is one of the most popular non-Rolex watches on the forum and members here would love for you to add one to the collection.

Pretty much comes down to ,do you want a watch with date feature or not . As both are classics in their own right . I owned a speedy but flipped as I missed seeing the date .

Easy. Speedy.

Since you say you will eventually get the DJ41, why bother now with the DJII? I'd rather have a Speedy and a DJ41 then a DJII and a DJ41.

My plan if I go datejust is either the DJ2 now or the DJ41 in a few years, but not both.

As for the Speedmaster everyone loves the Hesalite and I understand why for the historical value as well as "warmer" feel. Ive seen both in the flesh and can't see why all the hate for the Sapphire. I would be lying if i didnt say i feel heslite is scratch prone in my opinion. I understand the polywatch argument but I dont want to have to worry about it.

I've been tempted by the Speedy and have made up my mind that if I ever get one, it will be the sapphire sandwich, "purists" be d@mned. Peace of mind + a little extra weight + seeing the movement = perfect combo for me.

As for DJII vs DJ41, I would get the BNIB DJII now if I really loved it more than the DJ41, otherwise I'd go for the Speedy now and decide on the DJ later.

Check out Mystro's recent DJII incoming thread to see how great the DJII can be.

I may be biased, but either one of these two write-ins would get my vote as well

For me half of the appeal of the Sapphire sandwich is the exhibition case back. It really is a gorgeous movement to see working.

Looked at Mystro's thread, what a great thread it is really showcasing the beauty of the DJ2.

I think this is good advice if you want to or are going to get them both eventually.

By the time you have saved up some more there should be plenty DJ41 pieces floating about on trusted sellers sites. I am waiting for the same thing tbh.

In two years regardless if I buy another watch, my wife is getting a DJ 36 for our 5 year anniversary. The result is leaving me real hesitant because in two years i may or may not have the funds to buy myself a new watch as well. Gotta have the Mrs. taken care of, wifey deserves the world and I've been wanting to get her a Rolex for awhile now, but per her decision she wants to wait until after she's 30 so I figure our 5 year wedding anniversary is the perfect occasion.

If you didn't already have a Rolex it might sway me in that direction but since you have a couple already, I'd have to go with the Speedy. It is such an iconic watch with a lot of history behind it and looks pretty nice to boot.

Love the references! I agree, original speedy all the way! It is a classic! It's on my list of "I regret selling" with my omega smpc and my 16570 with the 3186

I am an Omega fan (I have 7) but to me there is no decision in this case.
