Hi, everyone. I'm new to the forum and to Rolex ownership. Looking forward to learning more about these timepieces! Yesterday I ordered a ladies datejust in steel and rose gold, with the concentric pink dial and arabic numerals. I'd been admiring it on the Rolex website... have been drawn to rose gold since the 1980s when I bought my first "nice" watch (meaning something other than a $20 Timex) - a Gruen curvex tank with rose gold face and case. Anyhoo, can't wait to see it and wear it. Never thought I'd ever own something so nice, but you only live once. More later - baby crying!

By the way, I ordered it from our local jeweler - authorized dealer. Hey - I just figured out what AD means... duh... (laugh if you want! As I say to my husband of 21 years, "stick with me, baby, and you'll find out there's a LOT I don't know!") Uh... we've been MARRIED 21 years, not that he's 21 years old.... By the way, hubby is a Rolex owner; he has a steel Explorer he got at Tourneau's in San Antonio last year.

Welcome to TRF, Lisa!

Please post pics of your Rolex when you receive it!

Here is MY suggestion how to post pics here:

1) Go to www.photobucket.com and create an account (it's FREE!)
2) Upload the pic to photobucket from your PC
3) When it's uploaded, copy the IMG code (BOTTOM bar under the photo in photobucket - there are four bars, but you'd wanna use the LAST bar - see my arrow on the Print Screen underneath). You copy the IMG code by simply clicking on the bar:

4) You then note that photobucket tells you "copied".
5) Then go to rolexforums and start your post.
6) In your post, press the "Add picture" button and a prompt pops up with http://. Delete that http:// and press CTRL + V (now that address of the photo - the "IMG tag" - is inserted in the prompt you got.
7) Then DELETE the last and first [IMG] to get rid of "IMG" standing before and after your photo when you post it. (not important, but just looks better).

Or you can skip # 6 & 7 and just rightclick in your post and choose "paste"...........BINGO your photo will be there as soon as you press Submit reply.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT DELETE THE PICTURE FROM PHOTOBUCKET (OR ANY SERVER YOU USE) SINCE DELETING IT THERE WOULD ALSO DELETE IT HERE ON TRF! (RED CROSS INSTEAD OF PIC).

That's it!

Bit of detail...

...about my husband's Explorer - he says it's an Explorer II, and apparently there are significant differences. Here I am, writing, and I need to be making school lunch for my daughter.... this is addictive. At any rate, I am glad to see the percentage of female Rolex fans is increasing on the forum. I've always loved watches, but historically have chosen them for utility without much research - if I thought it looked decent and kept time, that was all I needed. I owe it to myself to know as much as I can about the new Datejust - a big reason I chose one was the automatic feature - love the idea of no battery and I won't have to do anything but wear it and move my arm occasionally! I respect mechanical excellence! (have never been much of a bells and whistles type - give me a good Waring Blender with an ON and OFF switch that will last forever....)

Let me add my welcome to TRF, Lisa. Glad you found our friendly forum.

Stick around and join the fun.

And, yes, this place - and Rolex - can become quite addictive. But it's either that or coke.

Oh, and post some pics of that DJ when it arrives.

Welcome Lisa - my wife and I just ordered one for her. She's been looking over my shoulder on this forum giggling at some of the posts. But she'd be psyched to see another girl getting one and showing pics. Especially one with a baby too (ours is 4 months old). Here's a picture of hers i snagged off the Rolex website.

Hey y'all, thank you for all the nice welcomes! I've laughed and laughed at some of you crazy guys! Poor J.J... he must feel really "baa-baad" to be teased so. It's nice to see other women getting involved - though I must admit I'm not certain yet the genders of everyone here. Steve, the watch your wife is getting is exquisite! White gold and steel? What is the dial size? I ordered a 26 mm but know lots of women like the 31 mm or even larger; hope I made the right choice. Yes, I may need a little technical help from my husband but will post pictures asap - don't have the watch yet, but do have 3 month old baby, plus her 4- and 7-year old sisters. Nice to know Rolexes are impervious to drool, and might even make good teethers. (For real, when my first baby, Phoebe, was a couple of months old I met a former co-worker for lunch and she spent much of the time in his arms gumming his Rolex!)

Yeah, our boy has been drooling on my watch too. Figures i like to hold him with his back to my stomach and his head just over my watch. My wife thinks it's funny. She got a steel 34mm date, with WG bezel. She was trying to decide between 31 and 34mm.

Oh, yes, I posted on your thread about trying to decide on a 31 or 34mm, Steve. The comments gave me pause, and I re-visited my AD to try on a 31mm again. But it did restore my confidence that a 26mm is what I want. The 31 just looked too big on me - also might add that my age may factor in - I'll be 44 in a few days (yes, very old to be having babies but this last one snuck up on us). I guess 26 mm is just more my style - old fashioned! On the other hand, perhaps a bigger face would have been better because of bigger numbers and my impending farsightedness....

I think it's as other people say on here..."whatever smiles back at you the most." Odd thing also is that i think it depends on the personality of the person as well. Some people just seem to go with smaller watches while others seem to match with smaller ones.
