I had a similar (but reversed) situation for decades with the GMT2 Pepsi I finally got. For all that time I wrote it off, telling myself that a 40mm watch was too small on my 7 3/4" wrists. Yet I never bothered to find one to try on. And it's magic. :)
Thank you. Yes, it's magic, especially if you try one on!

Haha, I hear you my friend. The Nikon is not really the problem though, the Nikkor is where they get you...
I just pulled a trigger on 24-70 and a macro 105mm, to compliment the 55mm prime, so i just have to get it, right? I mean those lenses are just a waste with D5300... :D

Now you have to prepare both your husband and for FX.

HUGE fan of a 40mm diver on a woman's wrist. It's got a lot of punch and I really like the image as well. Honestly cooler when I see a woman wearing one vs a man.

Buy either, or buy both! It doesn't really matter because you can always sell it down the road if you don't like either/both.

Naaahhhhh!!!! Buy a fake baby G-shock in pink. Now go to a car dealer and buy a Fiat Multipla in yellow. Afterwards go to court and take all divorce papers existing because your husband will need them in the NEAR future.
You don't need this piece of chunky metal, black, boring and heavy....wait!!!...oh s**t!!....

It looks fantastic.

He's not going to divorce you. That would cost him way more than the price of the watch, plus you'll end up with it anyway. And a single sub-wearing lady is like a unicorn to the unattached men here, so you could replace him in nothing flat. Tell him the better solution is to have a good cry, then just buy one for himself, it'll save him a ton in long run. Easy peasy.

And your sub totally does not make your butt look huge. You'd need a DSSD if that's what you're shooting for.

I like this thread. I wear a Sub and have 2 daughters and no sons... so my watches have to go to them someday. Glad to see the Sub looks so great on you.

That sure is some nice glass you got there. While I really am neither a full frame nor a "gotta have the biggest" snob, you certainly are right with respect to weight balance. Both the 105 (love that lens) and the 24-70 are somewhat heavy for a small camera body like that. On the other hand, if you really do use the 105 as a macro, the crop would actually work in your favor and you'd want to use the combo on a tripod anyway, so balancing the setup wouldn't really be an issue either. Just to say, no matter how you end up resolving this, getting the watch first definitely was the right choice ;)

So, I got the watch that i fell in love with. No doubts about it. I am in love and I smile each time i look at my wrist.

I mentioned in my intro post that my dad always wanted a Sea Dweller or a Sub.

I mean, WHO DOESN'T, right?

I've always wanted one too, but it was out of the question for two reasons:

1. Never wanted anyone to think i'm wearing my dad's/boyfriend's/husband's watch

2. Waaaaaay to big for my wrist, right?

So i thought.

In my recent quest, I even went to try on a Breitling Superocean II 36, but dismissed it right away as "too boyish," hard to explain, nice watch, but that really looked like i took my dad's watch for a spin.

One of you mean enables recently posted a picture of gf/wife wearing a Sub and it looked amazing. I really tried hard NOT to look for that post again, but it was enough to put a bug in my head.

I even asked this morning someone to post a picture, same situation, better half hogging the sub

I mean, who doesn't want a Sub?

My husband might divorce me if i come home with one, so i'll have to plan this well. Christmas is just around the corner. Might have to say no to that FX Nikon... Sigh.

Anyhow, because you mean enablers don't stop posting gorgeous photos of your timepieces, I totally felt the pressure to try the sub/sd myself today, great time to spend a lunch on an office day. I went to Howard Frum that was recommended here a few days ago. Food is overrated anyway.

Did i mention, bad folks here? Bad bad!!!

So, I tried a Sub and a 40mm Sea Dweller.

My heart rate increased by a bit

I'm not at the 'which one' decision yet. Like i said, i'll have to plan this.

What i really need to hear from you is "it looks horrible, it looks like you took your husband's watch, it's too big for you, that watch makes your butt looks huge" and all that kind of stuff. I won't be offended, promised.

The kind Travis offered to take some pictures. Here they are.

Please don't disappoint me. I need my sleep at night

Thank you for your help!

t.

It looks fantastic! Your major problem is that nothing wouldn't look great on you : )

You know, the watch doesn't really make your butt look THAT big.

I kid, I kid. That is probably pushing the boundaries of good taste, but I couldn't resist.

Anyway, looks great on you. I say pull the trigger!
