First Patek - Which Annual Calendar?

Finally reached a point to buy my first Patek.

I am torn between the 5396G or the 5205G
What do you guys think??

Thanks Jorge!

My annual calendar obsession actually came from reading your post over the years about your 5146 on here and WUS.

Of those, the upper one w/ Breguet numerals, but the 5146 is better-looking than both.

The Breguet numbers on the 5396G are quite nice. The deployant clasp on the 5396 is also a plus. But both excellent watches!

You can't go wrong. Both great pieces. 5905 is another level!

5905 is indeed a different class of watch, but not exactly a restful dial to look at.

The older I get and the more watches I see, the more I value simplicity, and this is why I really dislike the PP perpetual chronos which we are encouraged to aspire to. Even central seconds are beginning to irritate me, and I prefer the AP Jumbo to the hallow'd 5711 for that reason alone.

Anyway, who cares what I or anyone else thinks? OP, you are the one who will have to live with your choice, so get the one you like.

Yes the Breguets do elevate it, I'd take the 5205 in RG tho.

5396 for sure. Need the breguet numerals. I actually prefer it in rose gold. This is high on the bucket list.

Agreed, but only for the platinum version, not the one shown.

Of the choices presented, I'd take the 5396 head and shoulders above the other.

5396 easily. On that particular 5205 you will die on resale! The 5396 is slightly smaller although the 5205 wears small but I like all dates etc in windows and breguet always a slum dunk for me. However whilst not an option I would go 5235 if I did it again

Thanks guys, I was leaning towards the 5396G and you guys confirmed that for me.

My girlfriend chose the 5205 which made me second guess my decision (I know, I shouldnt listen to her haha!)

Hahaha I can surely attest to that! Sold my 5205 when I got bored on the dial. It's a neither here nor there AC watch IMO - thick and sporty dial to actually qualify for a dress watch, while the dauphine hands and leather strap make it strange to qualify for a casual watch.

5396G might be better... if it were not for either 5205R in black or 5146P.

Needless extra expense for some very minor changes, in my view.

I'd go for the 5396 among the two.

I've always liked the 5205, but that picture of the 5396 just made me go "wow, that's nice".
