How about an Aquanaut?
How about an Aquanaut 5167 A or a 5164 A for a OWG? How practical is this watch compared to a steel Rolex?
Lifestyle consists of Office work/ construction sites, beach/pool, traveling, gym and other semi active activities. I don't think I beat my watches to the point of only a gshock could handle me but I don't baby them either. I just want a watch that has a low profile, rugged, efficient that I could use it all the time, no limitations. Note: I considered the 5711 but I've come to realize I prefer rubber. Thanks!

Just wouldn't use rugged to describe it / all
Else you list but construction? |

For a OWG i would get the 5164A vs 5167A as its more versatile. I wear mine in any situation i would also wear my Rolex. For me if i had to go down to one watch I'm pretty sure the 5164 would be the one as you can wear it in pretty much all situations.

Do you have to travel frequently? If not, I don't see a huge point in paying a lot more for the 5164 (though I concede you could also like the lack of a datewheel and the better symmetry of the dial on the 5164.) The 5167 is thinner, and I like the feel of it more as a result.
I wouldn't describe either as "rugged". Personally, I don't think scratches on Genta's bezels are very appealing, so I don't use my 5167 like I would a Rolex. |

If you don't travel forget the 5164. It's not worth the premium to have an unused complication. I don't think the 5167 will have a problem with your lifestyle and I think may not get knocked as much due to its lower profile. A choice between 116655 and 5167 would be tough

I prefer the 5164, I would just schedule a PP polish every couple of years if it is going to get marked up at work, no biggie.

After wearing Rolexes pretty much every day for 15 years, I now wear my 5167 most every day. For sure it is not as burly as a Rolex. But no reason you can't wear it all the time as long as you are paying a bit of attention on not banging it up. I wouldn't wear it to climb Everest or go waterskiing, but for everything else it's fantastic. Really it is an amazing watch, and a great step up if you don't need a tool watch.

More comfy then a Rolex could ever hope to be. It's a Patek, it's haute horology in a sporty watch. What more could you ask? Ok no, it's not as purely carefree as ceramic submariner. So be a little more considerate of it. For example I don't bike ride with it or play baseball with it. Tennis? You bet. |

I've always thought that the 5167 might be the perfect watch for a 1 watch collection

The 5167 was my main watch for over a year and loved every minute of my time with it. If I could have afforded to keep it and purchase my 5711/1r I would have in a heart beat.

Love, love, love the Aquanaut. It can easily be worn as a OWG, which I assume means Old Wonderful Genta? ...
I know the Aqua was not an original Genta ... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
