New to the Forum...
I've been a Rolex fan for a long time, over a 20 year period I've bought and sold a few.
My first was in 1999 when I bought a new Submariner TT black date. I sold it and bought a new Daytona TT (champagne dial) in 2002, then sold it and bought a new Yacht Master SS-Platinum in 2005. In the middle of all that, I found a beautiful used Datejust TT with a champagne dial and Jubilee band (#16013). 3 kids in college called for me to sell off my YM 2 years ago but I kept my 1986 vintage Datejust---it's now my only Rolex. So kids are graduating and I get lucky and win a new Rolex ($10,000.00 budget) from the manufacturer I work with. They're buying 10-20 Luxury timepieces from a large, well-known retailer for several winners. I REALLY want a Daytona SS, ceramic and white (or black) dial but know they're in super high-demand and difficult to get. They retail for $12400.00 (MSRP) and I see private parties selling them for a $5000 premium due to short supply. I'm ready to put up the $2400 above my winnings but if they can't get me one in 6 months or so, as much as I want the Daytona, I'd consider another Rolex. I really like the looks of the Explorer II but does it hold value if I want to sell it in a couple years? Both the Sub or YM are fine timepieces but I've had both of those, like to try something new. Maybe the 43 SD Deep Sea? It also looks like a beauty. I know---damn 1st world problems! |
