Service in the Sacramento, California area

So I looked up a few watchmakers local to my area of Sacramento who are able to service Rolex. I'm not surprised to learn that they're all not created equal as one watchmaker quoted me about half the cost as another watchmaker that's in another part of town.

What kind of surprised me though was the turn around times for both watchmakers. I won't mention the names of either watchmaker or the exact prices they quoted me, but one insisted that he can complete the service in just 3 days while the other quoted me 3 weeks to service the same watch. The one who said he can get it done in 3 days also gave the quote that was far less than the person who said they can get it done in 3 weeks.

My question is, should I avoid the person who can get the service done in just 3 days? Would it be wise to trust someone who can do a complete overhaul that quickly?

Also to anyone who lives in Northern California, who would you recommend for a watch service in the Sacramento area?

I’ve dealt with Lukins Watch Repair in Carmichael. Vlad is a great guy and definitely knows his stuff. Tell him Cameron Channell from Synergy Timepieces sent you.

I live in the area, but I never considered sending my Rolex to anywhere but to Rolex.

I got my Rolex DJ serviced years ago, but took it to the RSC in Beverly Hills.

They do not have a watchmaker on-site but will send to Rolex for service.

Ah I see, closest one would be Walnut Creek.

Quicker to ship to RSC or take it to a dealer for them to ship out?

Thanks everyone for the responses.

I've inquired with Devon's Jewelers and was told the same thing that was mentioned where they will send the watch away for service, they also wouldn't tell me which RSC specifically. Whether it was Beverly Hills or Dallas.

I read about Roman's Jewelry in Folsom and have seen some good reviews about him. I might inquire with him in person. Roman also services vintage watches and provides a 2 year warranty. If anyone has had any experience with him regarding pricing, quality of work and turnaround time, I would love to hear about it.

Hello,

I'm also in Elk Grove, nice to meet a fellow member from Elk Grove on here.

I still have not checked with Roman in Folsom as I am in no hurry to do so. From when I last checked a while back, he did quote me the highest price in the Sacramento area. But not by much. He has a video overhauling a vintage GMT Master on YouTube and he seems to have very good workmanship.

If you only have modern Rolex, I would recommend also considering Heller Jewelers in San Ramon. They have a Rolex factory trained watchmaker on site who only works on modern watches and they give a 2 year warranty.

All service isn't the same. Some simply tear down to major components and sonic clean parts. Others tear the watch completely apart, to include cleaning and refitting jewels, checking for tolerance, and replacing parts that are out of tolerance.

Nothing wrong with saving some money but know what you are getting for it.

The old Rolex RSC is over the hill in SF too.
