Panerai 438/389 vs 1438/1389

I have owned a 320 & 328, sold them. Wanting to add 1-2 more to my watch collection. Been debating between the 438/389 and the 1438/1389. Is one better than the other, which should I get? I know the older version has thicker cases and the newer version has the updated movement. My wrist is 7.5, just seeking some Panerai advice. Thank you.

On the 389 vs 1389 you basically have to make two decisions; thickness of case preference and your fondness of aftermarket straps seeing as the markers are cream on the 389 and white on the 1389. The cream markers open up the 389 to more strap options. That said, I loved the look of the 1389 with blue seconds more.
