Rose Gold Daytona vs Yellow Gold

First post but longtime member. I have a relatively varied collection of Rolex pieces but looking to add a Gold Daytona to the mix - what is the general consensus of the RG vs the YG from a collectibility perspective? What's more desirable on the open market / long term value play? FYI - If do the RG I plan on doing Chocolate Dial.

Rose Gold Daytona vs Yellow Gold

Just was thinking about this as I’m looking to add one. I think I’m into the RG...I go back and forth feeling like the yellow looks too intense, in a bad way. The RG also goes for a little more on the second hand market. Definitely into the chocolate dial with Arabic numerals maybe

Not sure what is collectable but I tried on the RG Arabic Daytona with chocolate dial and it was amazing!!! Very likely my next watch!

+1 for the RG 116505 choco Arabic.

Although, the YG 116508 with Newman panda dials (either black or champagne) are also dreamy!

I also very recently bought the WG OF 116519 as I wanted a special piece but a daily wearer. It is very sought after at the moment whilst its rose and yg counterparts aren't. As far as the full bracelet ones go the most sought after and holding its money is 100% without a doubt the YG green dial anniversary. Its a beautiful piece. However it is not a daily wearer (unless you are that way inclined) because it is very blingy. After that the rose choco dials also fly out and are very popular. Rose is also quite an easy daily wearer. The WG blue dial is also beautiful however from a re-selling point of view (and I think in most cases this is a consideration because it is a lot of money to put in to a watch) WG is difficult and not as liquid.

I hope that helps.

if you want price appreciation, put your money in the stock market. If you want emotional appreciation, buy the watch you like!!

I enjoy yellow gold, however, the rose gold on my Patek 5980-1R looks fantastic. I am also loving the new GMT in all rose gold.

If not SS ceramic, I'd go for WG blue. I've tried it on and it's simultaneously gorgeous and understated. Love the red accents on the blue.

Thanks for all the feedback, I just wanted to confirm what I already new - I keep going back to the RG for a reason so I'm sticking there. I visited an AD and he's trying to talk me into the Oysterflex RG Daytona model - stating it carries better value than RG bracelet model and has the ceramic bezel, making it more desirable. While I definetly like the Ceramic Bezel, I like the weight of the all RG bracelet. I have a Sub and GMT on an Everest Strap which I enjoy wearing in the summer, but in the winter and on special occasions which is where this will be worn, I prefer the bracelet - at the same time, I don't want to buy a watch that loses $10k the minute I walk out the store, which is what I'm being told will happen if I buy the RG Bracelet model. Opinions?

I went with yellow gold for my Daytona. I love the black dial with champagne counters.

Can't really go wrong though with any metal or combo. It's a great watch.

I wouldn't think there would be an advantage either way from a collectibility standpoint, once you take steel out of the equation.

There are stunning examples in both metals...you just have to go with the one that you like.

With Rolex sports, I always believe yellow is more popular and the better value play. Everrose is darker red than most rose gold and just not as sought after IMO. The new Root Beer GMT in all rose gold may change that. Plus the yellow gold models are 10 percent cheaper across the board.

Saw a RG w/black face at the craps tables a few weeks back in Vegas. It was pretty stunning. The guy wearing it...well that's another story. Lol

I think the RG versions are a little more muted on your wrist than a YG version, but I think it would be YG for me. Even for those of us who prefer to fly under the radar with our watches I think a little bling in your life is fun!

Rose Gold Daytona vs Yellow Gold

The RG is bright and shiny and in the sun it is blinding to others...

The YG is like it’s glowing. Not as easy to make out edges and shapes. I usually see just a yellow glow without as much definition as the ROse Gold

Both have equal desire ability to most

I love a YG Daytona (don't own one though). I'm totally torn between the YG black dial with champagne sub dials versus the YG green dial. Love them both.
