Should I try to jump to a bluesy?

A bit of a conundrum here. I recently purchased a few nice watches preowned (mostly), and am happy with each of them on their own. The Tudor Pelagos blue especially. A few years ago that was my grail watch, and I still love it to death. MORE than the recently acquired 116040 even.

That being said, I might have a chance to get into a 2018 preowned 116613lb.
I now would consider this a "grail piece". Because a smurf will never be affordable to me.

Anyway, what I'm struggling with is what would be reasonable losses to accept to try and get the Bluesy? I will leave out dollar values for now, as I don't know if that's frowned on. I can add that later if its allowed in here.

What I currently have:

2015 Rolex no date sub that's almost mint, full kit papers, etc.
2015 Tudor Pelagos blue with box, no papers in very good condition.
Ball Deep quest titanium bracelet in near mint condition with full kit.

yesterday I won on ebay a 1st gen planet ocean chronograph 2210.50 45mm.

So with the thought that I really am infatuated with the pelagos, what combo or maybe as much as a couple grand cash added should I offer to make this happen?

Or should I keep the nice variety of pieces I have?
Keeping in mind these are my better options.
Other watches I have are generally sub $1000 items.

Thoughts?

IMHO I would sell your ND Rolex, sell your Tudor and sell the Ball - that may get you close to the 116613LB price for a newish one.

You wont regret it. The Bluesy and the Omega Planet ocean is a great 2 watch collection.

Mine says Hi

I’d keep saving. Flipping watch you really like for a watch you think you really like, might not work out

I would Keep the Pelagos as I think it is one of the best watches on the market for what it is. I would see what the value of your other watches are with a Trusted Seller on a trade toward a 116613LB and you will have your number. If you can swing it then jump, if not, sit tight and enjoy what you have.

I'm not a bluesy fan and I really like the collection you have. I'd stay put...

Can I ask...if you want the 116613LB, why did you buy the Omega in the meantime?

One of the mistakes 'new' collectors make is buying a reference just cause it's either cheap or it came up.

I rather have one or two good references that four or five average ones.

Yeah...and I'll just add this. If you have to flip a watch to get a watch, now is not the time to get a watch. At least, that has been my experience. YMMV.

Sell all apart from ND sub. Blue Pelagos and blue sub maybe too similar. Steel sub and two tone sub is perfect

I say sell the planet ocean chrono, sell the ball, and sell anything else that doesn’t see the light of day more than a few days a month as long as it doesn’t carry a very sentimental value.

Less is more sometimes in this hobby and quality over quantity always tends to win in the end.

The bluesy is a fantastic piece, and even though I’m not a big fan of yellow gold, I greatly admire it on others.

The bluesy tends to be a bit polarizing here. People either love it or hate it. I had one for over a year. It's a gorgeous watch, fer sure, but it's got quite a bit of bling and it does get noticed. Whether or not that's something that you want, only you can decide. And yes, those gold links do scratch easily. Of course, they polish out pretty easily too.

For me, it ended up being "too much" and as other watches got more wrist time, I sold it. Sounds like you may be developing the virus that many of us here on this forum have caught, the thrill of the chase, AKA the flipping disease. Maybe it's time to slow down, take a break, and see what happens. There's no rush.

I bought the PO instead because I had made an offer on a speedmaster moon watch with the same jeweler who sold me the ND Sub. The owner who left it on consignment hasn't gotten back to me in 2 weeks, so when I saw the PO chrono for "cheap", I made 1 bid on it and won. So that's why I bought the Omega. I had budgeted the money for a chrono anyway, so I jumped at one when it went for a good price.

What I didn't mention, is that this was all the morning BEFORE I went into work and that night my jeweler friend said "your going to be mad at me when I get out of work". I tell him, no way.... you cant make me mad.

Then he shows me the 2018 TT sub on his wrist he just took in trade. He knows the Bluesy is my "grail watch". So he off handedly made the comment that maybe I could trade the sub I have tword the TT sub.

So now instead of saving for 3-4 years for when I turn 50, I might have the chance to acquire one now. If I give up a few things. All can be replaced fairly easily. Including the Pelagos.

Which I have decided I don't mind giving up, for now. I don't need a nice blue watch when I have a REALLY NICE blue watch. So if I can get the TT sub, next time I might get the black pelagos, instead. Since I'm giving up a SS sub.

Thanks for the advice guys. If he's in line with where a preowned one should be, and I don't get hurt too bad on dumping two or three watches, Ill go for it.

Assuming he even decides to let it go. He wore it to work again today, and I fear he really likes it. lol.

To add, this wont be a wear everyday or maybe not even a once a week piece.

I'm not worried about the gold and scratches I have lots of other watches for that.

I'm quite partial to the Seiko's or two Tissot Seastars I have for kind of daily beater "status". One is black, one blue chrono.

Interesting views above... I was keen on a bluesy (currently have a ND sub) until I saw it in the flesh...
Then I became VERY keen!! It’s beautiful, for me, it has a great balance of bling, obviously a date, and the shimmer on the face pops at certain angles. It provides a good contrast to the black sub. I’d use the ND as my low key watch, maybe daily, and like you said, the bluesy would be an occasional piece and perfect for special occasions!
Pic of me trying it on.

I daily wear a Bluesy and it’s amazing. I did pretty much what you’re thinking and don’t regret it. The scratches are overstated, yes it happens but it definitely doesn’t ruin the watch. If anything it makes it better. You’ll love it!

I have never been a fan of 2 tone watches, but for some reason, the bluesy is one of my favorite watches. I guess the blue and gold look so good with each other.

Do whatever you have to, to get the Bluesey, and do it fast before time runs out!

When I bought my Sub in 1985 if I could have afforded a Bluesy, I would have bought one. Over time and to some degree changes in popularity/fashion, I'm glad I bought the 16800. I might trade for a newer Bluesy, but I wouldn't trade even for an older Bluesy.

It's a beautiful watch. It's not subtle, yet is not as loud as it frequently looks in photos. The dial is beautiful too.

I own one because I couldn't imagine not owning one at some time in my life. I had to have one. It didn't matter how long I had to wait, as long as one came my way.

I can't tell you that you have to have one. Because I don't know you and I can't see the world through your eyes, any more than you can through mine. So if you need me to tell you that you want one, you don't want one. Maybe one day you will. And if you get one I expect you will love it.
