Ok, I will ruin it for you, the conclusion was pretty cool.

There is something deeply, authentically satisfying about being in the presence of something unfussily, and especially, well made. It's as if you'd gone into a hardware store to buy a hammer, wondered why one of the many hammers there is more expensive than the others, snorted at the absurdity of the additional cost, and then picked it up. You note the pleasant heft, the sense of ease coupled to authoritative mass, the overall sense of reassuring solidity, the careful but unostentatious finishing of the steel, and almost without realizing it, you're headed to the cash register, saying to yourself, "Now this, my friend, is a hammer." So it is with the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36mm. You begin by wondering, if you've never held or worn one before, what all the fuss is about, but end by saying, "Now this, my friend, is a watch."

I love that Omega, and have thought it would make a perfect "vacation watch" every time I see it.

I saw this and could make a compelling argument for any one of the three. I am a Rolex fan so that would be where I would go followed by the GS and Omega.

Saw the corresponding video to this last night. My Father actually just picked out the Omega they featured in this as his Christmas gift from my mother.

Interestingly, they went watch shopping last weekend. Since the Rolex AD didn't have any stock, pretty much at all, the only models he could try on were the Omega's and he ended up loving this model. It's a really nice looking watch and a great size.

I just saw the video and couldn't help but notice the amount of hate on Rolex in the comment section. Probably a bunch of watch enthusiasts who have never held one in their hands...

Every beginner to intermediate watch enthusiast hates on Rolex . It's because it's the go to status/made it purchase or they think it's old, small and outdated dadf or Grandpa watch, but if hey are enthusiasts long enough they look down at their wrist one day and there is a Rolex there and the watch box is empty.

I know what you mean about the hammer. I bought just such a hammer the other day. Fell in LOVE with it. It is superior in every way. So I went home and locked it up in my tool locker. It will never pound a nail. I fear if I do I may scuff it up. Every few weeks, I will take it out of the drawer and admire it though. (-:

I think that the Grand Seiko is the genuine bargain of the bunch.

Of course, they're all great watches to start a collection with, but for $3800, the GS really shines.
