6694 dial question
Hey guys looking to pick up this 6694 for the MRS. Also 6694 was my first Rolex and I no longer own it, so I’d like to have it back in my collection for the sentiment.
One thing I notice is the dial has almost a frosted look around the hour markers. And a gloss centre? (See photo) Has anyone seen this before? Is this normal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The frosted outer on the dial is where the paint is failing – probably oxidisation
The bracelet looks pretty sagged out The chances of finding one that hasn’t “gone” like this are pretty slim, most are being re-dialed about now The black faced ones are more “stable” as a rule …… |

I'm sure the overall paint is not failing. The outer ring is a perfect circle. There are no signs at all that the dial has been touched. It is from 1965 according to the SN and caseback (II 65). In another thread, it got a pass and a few comments that boiled down to "quirky". 😀 I have revived the post to see if anyone on TRF might have seen this dial before mine, or whether anyone has another one like it? Thanks, any and all help much appreciated. |

as far as the owner NickP's particular watch it's a different story. could be that dial is original but i suspect it's a repaint as i have never come across a two-toned dial as pictured. gold markers and hands on a vintage SS rolex was common during that time frame so that's ok. could also be the bracelet was swapped out as i think 1965 models would still have had a riveted oyster but i'm not sure when the folded version was introduced. |

Thanks, much appreciated. Wondering whether anyone else might want to weigh in?
Good eye on the bracelet—it’s a later one. Thanks again! |
