Breitling Super Ocean "Heritage 46"

I had this beast strapped on my wrist yesterday. I liked it a lot. Especially the rubber strap: It has a facility in the clasp that allows for ultra-fine adjustment.

Your thoughts??

I love it, except for the fact that it's a huge 46mm.

There are two things about it I don't like:
  • The luminous indices are way too small compared to the hands, and there is no luminous dots at 3, 6 and 9.
  • The crystal is AR coated on both sides.

Otherwise, nice watch! But BIG, as you state!

I think it looks

Two of my beaters are a Glycine KMU 48 and Citizen SS Ecozilla, so I don't mind big watches

I tried it couple weeks ago.I don`t know...it`s not for me.
I don`t think that it isn`t good watch,it is...but it`s too damn big and with that ugly SS bracelet...
No,my choice would be SD.In a heartbeat!

No crown protection, and I would (did) choose the Omega Planet Ocean XL (45.5) over it.

Just an observation and I do think it is a very nice looking piece but to me a Tool watch should properly function in it's designed purpose. Not having a luminous dot and or specific numbers with minute markers from the dot through to at least the "10" mark makes the watch not actually functional for what should be it's designed purpose.. a Divers watch... so although a very nice piece wouldn't make my short list.
(hope this makes sense!!)

I bought the 38mm version for my sister last year. It has a small seconds dial above 6 o'clock. A more elegant piece in my opinion, plus they're all COSC certified. Good value I say, but the large size references just don't do anything for me.

I would get one but the '46' is far too big and the '38' too small .... a real shame as other than the sizing I think it is a great watch

I bought a blue one recently, and while I didn't love it on the bracelet, it is absolutely stunning on the blue crocodile strap:

It is a large watch, but is probably the most stunningly beautiful watch in my collection (IMHO).

The lume is fantastic too, it is brilliant when charged and lasts all night long.

GOOD CALL!!! on that stunning crocodile strap but might i ask....?

my (UK) AD told me that breitling don't do a leather/croc strap to fit the 46mm SOH but looking at your beautiful watch they evidently do....

so where did you get your strap from friend??

the SOH is such an amazing watch. I was in love when I first saw it early this year and had my eyes set on the bronze colour version. To my disappointment, as much as I loved the 46mm, it was huge on me and the 38mm was too small. I wish they had a 41 or 42mm version in the same dial as the 46mm.

The above blue SOH is one of the best looking one so far, especially that strap!!!!

It is a beautiful watch, but like others have said - It has too many technical shortcomings for me.

Great looking piece you've got there Jamie!

I definitely think you should go for one Bo. Sure, perhaps I'm a bit bias here being a Breitling fan and all. But it's a stunning watch, and if you think you can pull off the size, I personally don't see any reason why one wouldn't get this one.

Good luck and if you end up getting one, please share some pics.

Cheers,
Joe

I will probably get caned for this but I've never been a great fan of the contemporary Breitling models. And through ill-fate, Breitling suffers from the same curse as Rolex does: the most copied watch in the world.

The Superocean Heritage however is a Breitling that I could purchase. (If I had the cash, I just bought a new iMac ). It fits neatly in the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and early Sub line-up.

But to my puny wrists, the 46 mm is too big and on the other hand, the 38 mm is too small Why not a 40 or 41 mm model? Ladies can wear a 40 mm with ease, I think a Sub on a woman looks the part

But I think it's a fine watch. It isn't meant to be a proper diver's watch and besides, divers use dive computers and a Citizen as back-up.

I concur. It would be an insult to call this a tool watch. They have the Super Ocean and the Steelfish to fill the tool void. This is a dress diver! When on that mesh bracelet, you are ready for business. If my SOH gets more than sink water on it I'm upset!

Breitling made 50 pieces of the Heritage Superocean (both sizes) in celebration of Malaysia's 50th year of independence. It had a white dial and blue bezel and came with the steel mesh bracelet. Needless to say it looks stunning.

Unfortunately since I already own the black version, I passed on it - it sold only in Malaysia and cost about US$4,000.
