Transocean Chrono vs Zenith Striking 10th

So having tried both watches I'm torn.

Both have great history, quality fit and finish In house movements etc. Both watches have good dimensions and love how thin they are for chronos.

Initially I might have to give the nod to Zenith for 2 reasons:

The incredible chrono movement which is what Zenith does best and the fact that it's less recognized in the states. I see quite a few Breitlings and very few Zeniths.

From what I hear from my watchmakers the B01 movement is actually fantastic and is working very well, I suspect less maintenance than the El Primero (especially a high-beat one).

At the end of the day, go with the one you like the most. I actually think the Breitling has a lot going for it for a modern chrono with classic design: 43mm, waterproof to 100m, 22mm lug for a nice contemporary strap, domed crystal with AR, 70 hrs power reserve etc.

Both are great watches with excellent movements. However, between the two I'd say Zenith Striking 10th without a doubt. That watch and movement have a longer history and and is more unique.

The TO is a nice watch and if your heart was set on it then I would go with it as it is probably the only Breitling that I would consider buying for myself. However, between the two you listed there is no question... Zenith has to be it without question.

zenith striking 10th is amazing, yet the B01 moment is pretty solid. Its whatever watch you like best. They will both hold their value about the same

I agree. The TO line is very nice with a classic look and modern styling.
Most Breitlings don't appeal to me, but the TO line is an exception.

Ventee Privee/American Express currently has Breitling on sale, incl the TO watches. They were 27% off over the weekend, might be some left.

I have the Zenith El Primero Striking tenth Limited Edition (the one that 1969 pieces were made not the stratos). I can honestly tell you that it has made me very VERY happy. I wear it waaaaay more often than my SubC and to this day everytime I look at it I cant stop staring at it. My GF laughs at me when she catches me looking at the watch. Also the 42mm is a good size without being too large.

I had the same dilemma as you between the TO, the Striking 10th and the JLC Deepsea.
I dont regret a single bit getting the Zenith.

They haven't been out as long as a lot of other watches though too. I think the first time I saw them was 2 years ago. The TO is a gorgeous watch. I prefer the simpler, stainless model, on a brown strap though.

Breitling comes no where near Zenith quality. El-Primero takes some beating imho

Just take a look at the finish of the movement on striking 10th

I personally think Zenith is so underrated

I'd lean towards the El Primero between these two although the 42mm case has kind of longer lugs that make it look a little off on my smaller wrist. I'm trying to see a regular El Primero in the 38mm version in the flesh but so far no luck. I don't think the TO 01 will get as much love as say a Navitimer 01 (especially the LE) which I think is more in line with the Zenith Striking Tenth in terms of a historical chronograph. I'll have an EP soon although I haven't figured out if my OCD will be worsened by the fact that there is no hacking seconds hand to set the watch [although I know there are workarounds].

I owned the Transocean Unitime, white globe dial............one of the most beautiful dials ever!!!! Let it go only because the 46MM case size was just a bit big on me. So, if your wrist can handle it, Transocean all the way!!!! Its a No Brainer
