New Airking or Milgauss???
Please could I get the forums opinion whether to opt for the new Airking or the Milgauss as I need to choose and they both have their unique qualities?
I know this is is subjective but would like members own personal opinions please? |

I've had both and I think the all brushed finish on the Airking is far more appropriate for a sports watch.

I have a GV and chose it because it is different from other Rolex watches.
The green crystal, the 7mm crown on a twinlock, the twin colour lume, magnetic resistance and it doesn't jump out as a Rolex as other models do. I don't consider the GV as a sports watch. The Airking is also a very interesting design and is arguably the best modern Rolex bang for your buck. I may have chosen the Airking had it been available when I bought the GV.

Both have the same bracelet and case. Get the one you like more. Personally, the dial on the Airking seems busy. Still a beautiful watch, though.

As the say each to their own.
I too personally felt the air kings dial a little busy......however it's a terrific watch. I actually traded my DJ blue for a White Milgauss .......there was something about it I really liked. I know it is not very loved on here. Plus it added a balance to my small collection. |

I love the z-blue! It has more character and beauty than the AK, which had its own beauty don't get me wrong. I see the Milgauss as closer to the Datejust (sporty dress watch) and the Air King as closer to the Explorer (dressy sport watch). I almost got it when I picked up the DJ41 126300, and I also had my eye on the Exp as well.

I prefer the Milgauss in all forms to the new AK. I have warmed slightly to the AK since introduction and even tried one on at my AD but it just does not work for me.

Airking, as it stands out in my opinion. Millgaus is great, but I can't get used to the lightning seconds hand....

Get both. If you want to buy one at a time, start with the Airking. It's radical, its unique, it's different, and it's the first model of the modern airking. So it's sort of a collector's item. Then buy the green Milgauss, which is beautiful, scintillating, and just plain wearable joy.

Had my Air King two weeks now, love it, it's hardly been off my wrist! It's got a unusual colourful dial which references the Bloodhound SSC instrumentation, a car which is going for the land speed record, it sits nicely on my 7 " wrist, it has the bracelet without pcl's along with the quick link extension, it's has the anti-magnetic qualities of the Milgauss, and is at the lower end of the Rolex price range, it is a great addition to my small collection, and will be get lots of outings.

New Airking or Milgauss???
Cannot get past that dial on the Airking. A face only a mother could love...
The black dial GV is unique. At first I thought...that color combo wasn't very versatile. However, it really contrasts nicely with a number of shirt / pants combos. I was pleasantly surprised. |

Agree. The older airkings looked great, the new one should be terminated. So I vote Milgauss in this particular case. |

Definitely the Air King. Brushed bracelet, colour, anti-magnetic qualities of the Milgauss and the dial pops.

The Airking 116900 looks bi-polar... confused and lost IMO. It's like one of those bad marriages that keeps coming back years after divorce. With that said, and based on your choice, the Milgauss will always be special on all levels and can go the distance.

AK dial is very cool IMHO. Markings are unique and the splash of green & gold are very classy. Even still, I think the z-blue gets my vote. everything about it pops

Milgauss Z-Blue. The new AK is quite funky but I'm not sure I could live with it. The Milgauss however, is pretty cool

They are 100% the same watch, apart from aesthetics. They both have the faraday inner case to give them a high level of anti-magnetism. The only difference are in the looks, and that is something that has to be a personal decision. Do you prefer the GV sapphire glass, lightning second hand and polished center links of the Milgauss; or the brushed links and avante color of the Air King?
That's a personal choice. As for the watches, same properties in terms of movement, case and anti-magnetism. |

There are more differences between the Air King and the GV. 'Aesthetically'. I like the Air King and just wished they had left off the 3, 6, 9 from the Explorer.

Another Milgauss vote. I'm a big AK fan, too. I own a couple...vintage (5501) and more recent (14000m). Just can't get into the current model, much as I have tried. It's like an official Franken.

I actually agree with the comment on my BLNR ...it is nothing but a standard GMT II with a blue (rather than green) GMT hand and with the lower hemisphere of the cerachrome bezel being blue. No denying that, and I never made it an issue. The LN and BLNR are both the same 116710, just with a few aesthetic differences (or maybe I should write esthetic, but since I was taught Queen's English growing up, aesthetic will have to suffice). In the same way, the modern Air King and the Milgauss GV are the same watch ...with some minor differences in the dial, second hand, coloring, sapphire crystal and bezel brushing. Which is why I said it depends on the original poster's taste - does he/she prefer a green or clear crystal? PCLs or brushed links? Thoughts on a lightning shaped second hand? Numbers on the dial or not? And such differences - which are aesthetic. Exactly the same decision someone who is making a decision between a LN and BLNR GMT would have to make, since it is the same watch with little aesthetic differences. Same with the modern Air King and Milgauss GV - and for contrast purposes, quite different from, say, a choice between a GMT and an Explorer II. Tony,
I bought my GV because it was different. With it's green crystal, big crown, smooth bezel, lightning bolt second hand, twin colour lume, no date (or cyclops), rear caseback engraving etc. it didn't look like your usual Rolex and it can't be mistaken for any other model unlike some of my others. Of all my Rolex watches it is my wife's favourite. She has excellent taste.
