For me I feel that no matter what watch you wear, if other people like it then it will get attention. You could get mugged, you could get snyde remarks, or you could meet a WIS who will actually know the difference between a guilloche and a hair spring.
Glad to hear, wonderful choice ...
How are you enjoying it so far ?

I have gotten the 'Ferrari in the garage' price on several occasions. It's annoying. Those guys NEVER get the job.

I go through this 'under the radar' nonsense with exotic car owners that moan about the attention their pearl yellow Lamborghini Aventador Roadster is getting. Seriously? If you've earned something and enjoy it for the right reasons, it shouldn't matter to you what some knuckle head thinks.

Unless you are wearing a president from the '80s with a diamond face and bezel, you are pretty much under the radar. Nobody cares, but you.

I have been a sort of "under the radar" kind of guy most of my life. The last thing I need in my life is a watch that fits under the radar. I always buy a watch because I like it, never wondering what others may think. I currently have my mind set on my next Rolex being solid gold, with a sold gold bracelet, likely a President bracelet on a beautiful Day-Date. To me a gold Day-Date oozes class, and does not go under the radar.

It is possible to be a humble person and still pull off a watch that doesn't fit under the radar. In this day and age, we see people running around with purple, green and blue hair and tattoos all over their bodies, and all sorts of clothing and accessories imaginable, we are worried about whether or not our watch fits under the radar?!

I have never liked the term "under the radar". Psychologically, a person that buys an expensive watch but, at the same time, wants no one to notice is highly suspect. I understand that some people dislike yellow gold or find it too blingy; but that is just your taste. If you did not want anyone to notice you are wearing a Rolex (if you think people really care) you would not choose the more famous luxury brand watch in the world.

This. The only time I'd consider wearing anything aside a Bluesy is if I'm going to a funeral or visiting my old neighborhood (more ballistics glass at KFC than the Chase).

It'll finally be mine in January. I couldn't pull the trigger yet due to I'm getting married this November. I wish I could have purchased it sooner so I'd have it showing in the wedding photos, but some disputes with the venues and catering left me with a lot of extra costs down the drain.

Under the radar doesn't necessarily, mean IMO that you don't want anyone to notice your watch. Perhaps you just don't want such a target on your wrist when traveling internationally or in certain neighborhoods etc., but still want to wear, enjoy and appreciate a nice watch.

Well the Explorer 1, the Oyster Perpetual and some others are way less likely to draw extra attention above and beyond, like say a YG Rolex would or even a Smurf, Datejust, Daytona, Hulk or BLNR.

If one has a smaller collection, I could see why they would want their pieces to be attention grabbing or at least not care if they are attention grabbing. But say, you have a larger collection already and still want Rolex quality, what's so wrong with desiring something less "loud" on your wrist on the occasion?

Mine for those occasions is a 5 digit Explorer 2 Polar, and I'm not ashamed to say so.

Don’t understand this thread. Some people want loud watches, some want quiet watches and some just buy what they like and don’t put any further thought into it than that. All choices are fine.

Exactly !!!! That’s why I started the thread to
point this out ... Cause many are trying to fly
under the radar wearing a ROLEX...!!!

If you like it, want it and can afford it !!!
Then buy it , wear it , enjoy it and be happy with it !!!
Now how hard was that ???

I actually love flying "under the radar" ... and yes that's way over used. I like when a true watch lover takes note and knows what you've got on... but for the most part I find it amusing to walk around and blend and yet have 10k strapped to your wrist.

The winner of the thread.

Pretty much my sentiments.
Agreed!! For me “ under the radar” means I am not pestered by those questions and I don’t attract the wrong kind of attention. I have a Rolex because I like it. Not because others like it on me. I bought a Smurf because I love gold, I live the weight and the feel and it is different then the standard divers watches. Plus I don’t like to show off in front of my employees who might see me wearing a Rolex as taking their money for something they might consider frivolous.

Well there have apparently been some female "WIS", if you might call them that, that pick up and then drug men specifically to steal their watches in NYC, (you can google it). Yes there is pride in possession, but best bet is not to wear your Rolex in dicey areas or when out for some hard partying.

Lots of brands no one has ever heard of that one can buy to be really deep, deep, Axel Folex deep under the radar.

It's really simple for me. I bought my Rolex Sub C for myself, not other people. I have Invicta watches that look the same to the untrained eye, so obviously I'm not looking to impress anyone.....BUT, I can definitely appreciate it when people don't want that "negative" attention that sometimes comes with todays twisted way of thinking that money is bad. The easy answer for me is that if a true enthusiast likes the watch and asks questions, I'm more than happy to speak to them and "show it off", but if it's an a-hole just looking to be facetious, I just tell them it's a fake I bought in China Town NYC for $30 bucks.

Some people believe that buying a Rolex is because you want to get noticed. Interesting...

Ok, what does that mean ?

You want to be incognito, discreet, modest,
unnoticeable, blend in with the crowd, humble,
ordinary, moderate, subtle, inconspicuous,
understated, unobtrusive, low-key, subdued look,
restrained look, prudent, stealth, undercover, covert
and or surreptitious ... etc...

Ok on and on you get the picture !!!
Please forgive me if I've missed an adjective that
fits your criteria... I tried to encompass most !!!
My point is , if you want a Rolex ...
If you want to wear a Rolex...
All this mumbo jumbo stealth under the radar stuff
actually flies out the window!!!
Why ???
Wear a Timex, Swatch or Casio if you want under the radar
stealth opps!!!

Rolex is not under the Radar no matter how much you psych your
mind or want it to be ... Yes white gold or SS is less blingy but still Rolex!
That said, most people don't even give a hoot about your watch as they
are too concerned with their own life matters and issues at hand !!!

In conclusion: Wear what you want and can afford and don't be concerned
about what x, y and z say or think because they are actually thinking
of themselves and not you or what watch you're wearing!!!
A Rolex is a Rolex and not anything less or more ...
If you've purchased it you've earned it !!! Wear it proud and be content...

Enjoy your watch whether it's a Rolex......

I wear jeans, and black/grey/white t-shirt and a steel, black dialed watch 90% of the time. I also have only owned cars in either black or some shade of grey/silver. To me, “under the radar” simply means not loud, colorful or ugly. You couldn’t pay me to wear a gold Rolex or drive a bright yellow Porsche. They hurt my senses. :)

Under the radar for me is wearing a good quality watch that I can appreciate and is inconspicuous.

What might be under the radar in one geographic location may be very conspicuous in another.

*Under the radar ~ Hong Kong = 2017 Sub-Date.
*Under the radar ~ Paris = 2001 model 34mm Air-King stick dial.

I wear my BLNR almost every day. I have only gotten 3 or 4 comments in 2.5 years. It is very much "under the radar." And that's the way I like it. Believe it or not 99% of the people that you encounter don't notice your watch.

Define “the” radar. So many people, so many criteria, opinions etc.

You as the wearer of the watch cannot account for all those radars... You are wearing your watch for you! You should feel comfortable first of all! Forget about other peoples radars!

FWIW. I've worn various Rolex SS models everyday for 27 years. I've probably had less than 10 people ever notice my watch and say something to me. Might be different with PM models, but if you think the brand will put you on any radar, you will be disappointed. My Rolex is only on the radar when I'm browsing at an AD.
