Thanks
Blancpain Fifty Fathoms reference 5008B-1130-B52A aka Barakuda.
Comes with a plastic strap. But you can buy the X71 20 mm (Milspec) bracelet, which can be swapped with the strap.

Any thoughts on the Kuda strap versus the milspec sailcloth?

My preferred option is the x71 steel bracelet. The Kuda strap is a nice reference to the vintage times, but is lacking the heft and presence of the steel bracelet. The sailcloth I have not tried out (yet). You can get the sailcloth with a deployant buckle? The pin buckle of the Kuda strap is a bit 'mweh'

The x71 bracelet is definitely very well made, but I ended up not getting it. I'm not really a big bracelet guy.
Agree the pinbuckle isn't great. I don't see why you couldn't get a BP deployant and put it on the sailcloth, the pinbuckle is easy/generic enough to remove. I would definitely take a look at the sailcloth, it's very well made and extremely comfortable.

Would be cool if BP offered different color sailcloth straps. I think grey or orange would look pretty cool on the Milspec (especially during the summer).

I was 4th on the list for the Barakuda in NYC with full deposit but I pulled it because my BLRO came in unexpectedly. I am quite happy picking up a BLRO at retail, but the Kuda feels like the one that got away to me. It's a shame we can't buy them all.

Yes, I'm finding myself letting alot go now so I can be more selective and stick to a 10 watch limit.
I called an AD as soon as the Kuda was announced (guaranteed allocation). But when I saw the watch, I had to reluctantly pass because it was a little too similar to the Milspec. I was hoping for a brushed case, minute markers around the entire bezel. If I didn't have the Milspec, or had more spots open, I would have gotten it. Hell of a watch.

I will say, if/when BP release a 40mm LE No Rads, I won't be able to hold back.

It's funny, 10 is my new limit as well. I have 8. On the list still for a DaytonaC. Holding that last spot open for something I just can't live without. I am feeling the need to take a breather from watches in general at this point. Lots of change and chasing the last two years.

Same with me. It's been a hectic, fun two years, but I'm going to relax and save up for a grail piece or two. Just going to take it slow for now and enjoy what I have.

I’m eyeing a Barakuda but I think it’s just a bit out of reach right now.

I read somewhere that the spring-bars are screw in. I recently bought one but am afraid to screw around. How did you change out the strap?

I believe the original Fifty Fathoms has some sort of screw bars...but the Bathyscaphe just uses regular spring bars (albeit in a somewhat annoying 23 mm). This is good news for me because I like to change straps...a lot!

Oh that’s great! Did you change from the sailcloth? Mine really has no room for me to see the spring bars...

I know a few collectors/enthusiasts who have run out of gas after the last two years. Time to just enjoy what I've got for a bit (unless the AD call comes in lol).

Haha. That’s the caveat. I’ve been on the CB list for almost 2 years now, patiently waiting for that call. Other than that, I’m going to slowly save up for a MB&F and a high-end chrono
