I think most Rolex owners are fairly financially savvy. That means they buy low and sell high. During a crash, buy, don't sell. A crash represents buying opportunities, not selling.

Yes that is a possibility

OR

The economy can grow, we can see increases in salary's and you could careless how many watches are on the market because your paying cash at an AD.......

you can sweep up a good deal in a shit market or hopefully we can all flourish and buy whatever we want..........

The gray market prices of some of the SS references is a sign of a bubble in the watch market. The same thing is evident if you look at some of the PP references (5711, 5712).

Whole separate can of worms but I think we're well overdue for a pretty macro correction in the market.

If it happens, I am hoping I'll finally get the call on the white Daytona. Maybe they'll be able to sell me a BLRO at the same time too! I'll be waiting.

Cash is king and I would be more of a buyer than seller. I remember homes that once sold in the neighborhood for 1.2 mill sell for under 800k during the housing crisis and now those same homes are going for just under 2 mill. Tesla and Facebook stock got crushed this week so maybe we are seeing the bubble finally starting to let some air out. Nobody can predict the future so just enjoy your watches.

During the last great recession, I did notice the price drop on TRF and TZ. I have no doubt demand and price will drop at the next recession. Btw, I missed a few Zenith SS Daytona at the time.

When the market crashes, how many will be selling watches ?

If it does, then I'll be buying more.

If people need to sell their watch during difficult times then they shouldn’t be wearing a luxury item in the first place.

Maybe more true for the TRF crowd, but less sure for the non WIS market.

If that happens, I’d be looking out for some real high end pieces at discount. You can probably find good deals at auctions in those times. Don’t think steel Rolexes will be affected that much but finally they might be available at MSRP or less.

2nd quarter GDP was at 4.1% growth. Too early to speak of a US crash just yet. I think we’ll see an Asian correction first. This will certainly have an impact on the watch industry. As for me I hope the markets avoid crashing with periodic corrections to rectify the overvaluation. LONG LIVE THE BOOM!

Since it's inevitable that the economy will tank at some point, it's also a near-certainty that demand for Rolexes will soften up.

Be waiting and ready to buy when that happens!

Many Rolex owners are not usually needing cash from their watches especially not the high end and hard to get models. Will there be some lower end date justs selling for a bit less in a protracted recession probably so, but Daytonas and the like won't be sold off cheap.

I’d agree if not so many flippers for profit (BLRO, BLNR, LVc and Daytonas)

Maybe I have a bad memory - that is certainly possible - but I do not recall any significant drop in prices for Rolex watches post 2008. Certainly not here in Australia.

I guess I'm not sufficiently worldly to understand the question. Will this market crash result in needing to sell watches for food? Or will this crash somehow drive up the value of watches? Either scenario doesn't seem too likely.
