I’ve given up.... 116610LV
Hi from the UK. It feels like I’ve been trying to buy a new 116610LV since forever. Following the discontinuation (and given I only really buy my watches from ADs) plus the prices skyrocketing, I’ll now never get one.
It’s sad to see how many BNIB being sold in the gray market when there’s genuine folk who would have bought it for ourselves to wear and enjoy, not to make a quick profit. A bit sad. I’ll get over it. |

Without the hyperbole, how long have you really been trying? As recently as three years ago they were still available in AD display cases. Maybe it has been different in the UK.
Nonetheless, it is kind of sad that certain models will forever be outside of a reasonable price range. |

That sucks OP. Maybe one day down the road everyone will lose interest and it will be less than original MSRP and we’ll be talking about “remember when these were trading for over double retail?”

Never give up. It’s possible an AD in London is holding onto one.
One day, the stars will align and you’ll get it somehow. |

Try to find something similar (for you) but less hyped. I'd think about the bluesy. I was going for the 116610LN for example, but will go probably 114060 to take some distance from the folly around Sub-dates in general. Even LN are growing rapidly in quotation and gray dealers are beginning to copy ADs in snobbish attitude.

In March 2018 I rang around about half the ADs in England. None would take my details. My local AD, who as far as I can tell, runs real lists with real people (including me) moving up, sometimes down and occasionally off them, told me that they had closed their list at 50. They were not confident that everybody on their list would ever get one. They didn't think it was worth compiling a second division or back up list. Had they done so there would have been another 50 on that already.
That was the UK situation as it appeared to me (but I'm sure didn't apply to everyone) 2.5 years ago. I went grey. I paid just north of £8K. I have never regretted it. What it's theoretically worth today is a joke. But some people won't think twice. |

Don't worry OP, you'll forget about it. I got over not getting a Pepsi and a Batman. Doesn't really matter TBH, I love what I have.

There are over 450 of them listed now on Chrono 24. 450! Versus about 230 Bluesey's and over 500 of the 116610LN's.
That's a lot of watches, guys...a well-known grey dealer told me that he never expected all these Hulk owners to sell all at the same time. He's got all of these he can handle... Where's the tipping point on price and availability? Not sure. |

Indeed I have my friend , and I’m certainly not complaining. It’s just disappointing. And as I do not but from gray sellers, there’s nowhere to go. My decision of course, and maybe cutting my nose to spite my face but hey. |

You might find one in the pre-owned section of an AD

Don't give up! Just care a little less and keep trying. Ask everyone you know if they have any connections and eventually it will happen!
Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

By this point the watch is slowly become less insta worthy as the masses move on. I see less Gucci clad guys wearng these now in the town (who would of historically worn big bangs) but it's still popular as recognisable like an LV monogram.
As popularity dwindles for the fashion crew you'd think more will arrive on 2nd hand market. But maybe best to focus on the new model in production |

If it’s any consolation, I’ve had my for nearly 7 years and barely wear it. Got it out to wear this week, wore it 2 days and swapped it for a Speedmaster.
There are other watches that are available to buy that I prefer. But I won’t sell it and hopefully will begin to really love it again at some point |

Your best bet would be first purchase a Rolex for your partner at your local dealers, don't stipulate getting the Sub is part of the deal.
Just make sure you are on the list and are happy to join the Rolex ownership with your first purchase then hopefully they take you serious and just not another customer ringing or enquiring about a hot watch. |
