First Scratch on BLNR

Just noticed this morning that I got my first serious scratch on my new (purchased in April) BLNR. You always know it is a matter of time and this happened while I was working on my car. It is one of those that are so deep you can feel them! Now it feels like my watch, At least it didn't happen the first week I owned it.

I love wearing my watch, but if I'm going to do any physical things I don't wear it. I try my best to prevent my watch getting scratched, because I know it would drive me crazy.. a little OCD.. got the AK on rubber and feel a lot safer..Oyster bracelet safely put away..

I wouldn’t wear my watch if were about to start some kind of repair on a car or anything that will most likely damage my watch.
Thats just me.

Not the end of world. I wouldn’t want it either but life happens. As long as it’s not on crystal.

I always felt like what’s the point of having nice watches if you don’t wear them? Scratches happen. The clasp is no big deal anyways.

Nice scratch there!

I've had my BLNR since August of last year and it only has a few hairline scratches. It's yet to be officially christened.

Eh, clasps are always going to get beat up. Fortunately, the jubilee does a good job of hiding scratches. Add in the ceramic bezel and brushed lugs and that watch will look new forever. Enjoy it!

Congrats on a great watch,

From 3ft away you won't see anything regardless of scratches, it will just look great, and it's your watch now :)

I have virtually the same scratch on the same spot of the same watch. Wouldn't have it any other way!

You’re lucky it’s on the clasp not the case or bezel.
I don’t baby my watches but I can’t wear anything on my wrist when work on my car or bicycles. It bothers me.

Safely put away for what purpose? Never to be worn? Or storing it for later sale? The latter I can understand if you buy and sell watches to change what you own... Any other reason seems nonsensical.

You shouldn't go out of your way to damage anything that has value - but many on the forum seem like they live in daily fear of something happening to their watch, and regular report their worst fear has come true when something does happen. Must be a terrible way to live, constantly in fear.

100% agree with you good sir. The clasp and bracelet don’t bother me any where close to the case being scratched

Yes i know how you feel. I put a scratch on my 1995 Sub 2 days after I got it from the store. I was abit annoyed that I was careless(I knew i was going to scrape it against that brick wall in between the house) but after a few days, I was like "whatever" I still have that scratch and others on that watch. It is a tool watch and it looks good with scratches

I’d say a Sub/GMT/Daytona can go anywhere whatsoever, unless there’s other metal being used in close proximity. So I’m off limits for gym, working on a car, etc. Rather just leave it off for the short duration than risk something serious. Especially true if wearing a PM piece

No fear hear bud... Since I wear my AK the most I like it on rubber. The oyster is put away so that when I want to change it looks like new because that's the way I like it and like my things to look good... You do you...I do me..

Take your stickers off!

I have a scratch on my hulk from a basking shark brushing up against me. I learned to love and embrace the scratches!!

I did this to my Datejust after only a couple of weeks. Was even thinking of buying a protector. I'm glad I didn't and was glad to get that first scratch out of the way. it made me ease way up on wearing it.

BTW, still my grail piece... I love that watch.

I just bought this for $400 as my beater. Titanium, sapphire crystal, eco drive. Don’t have to worry about it. I’ll never subject my Rolex to a situation that may substantially harm it.

I decided to get the beater because I was drilling into masonry while wearing my one month old SD43. The tiny dust got under the watch and I got a bunch of tiny scratches on the shiny part of the back.
