How flippable are PP watches?

Just looking for some advice, I've been thinking about getting either a 5711 or 5712, instead of another Rolex. With SS Rolex, it's always easy to flip without losing too much money. With PP, is it easy to flip? From your experience, what would you expect to lose on a flip, 10% or more? I realise that it's like owning a Ferrari, there may be plenty of interest but to actually find a buyer with ready money is another matter. Any advice on PP ownership would be much appreciate :)

Aquanaut, very.

Others, depends.

I find it very hard to believe you don't know the answer to this after reading a few or one post here.

Would you entertain making love to all of the Victoria's Secret models at one time?

Should a Ferrari be red?

Have the French ever made a decent bottle of wine?

Does Rolex make a decent dive watch?

Has apple gone downhill since jobs passed?

Does a bear 🐻...

It´s not so easy and fast to flip a Patek sportwatch like a Rolex SS model because of the higher price tag imho but if you aren´t in a hurry you won´t lost money if you follow Sl Brabus´s advice...

Go for a Patek, you won´t regret it...

He was just saying obvious things, like it is obvious that the 2 models you cited are very liquid, and 90% of grey dealers will give you retail or more depending on condition for both of them. With any of these 2 you can buy your eyes closed, just try to get at retail from PP, if you can't stand the wait and get for a premium then it's another story, but in any case both watches are very liquid and no problem to sell them fast, I have a grey dealer friend in France who takes any SS Patek for retail or more and pays on the spot, if you prefer he sells it for you and takes 7%, I have no intention of selling the ones I have but if ever I needed to I know where to go, bought many watches from him and he sold my Rolexes, Pams, 5726A and even a Blancpain, beats getting nervous with lowball offers and guys trying to ask you to meet them in crappy neighborhoods, with the clear intention to beat the crap out of you and rob you, 2 times had this, when I said they needed to come to the bank they didn't get back to me, strange

Thank you for your explanation and tips. I've literally only just started looking at PP the past few days and have taken a liking to the two models mentioned. i am planning to buy a preloved model and don't want to make silly mistakes like being stuck with a model that I won't be able to sell when the time comes to flip. Thanks again!

He means, yes.

The 5711 and 12 are very flippable and at very good prices, the 5711 you should sell for above retail even, but Aus might be different as it is a small market. Check chrono24 for prices there and email used dealers and tell them you have these watches already and ask for a quote so you know what they buy them for.

All good GB-man! I've got a lot to learn about PP. it's a completely different world to Rolex. I've been reading through some of the posts and I can only say that folks who wear Patek are real gentlemen.

If you can get a 5711 at retail price it’s flipable at a big profit. UK prices - 19k retail, flipable at 25k, sold on for 29k plus.

Majority of PP's are going to be tough jobs trying to flip.

You can never have too many PP's! Don't think about the price and just enjoy the time piece.

For your reference here is my experience with PP buying at retail from a U.K. AD, no discount available. So for a regular model you should expect to lose 15%-25% vs retail price (in U.K.) when flipping as a PX. Of course there are exceptions, but those are often deliberately created by the brands in part to sell the general idea that buying a Rolex/PP/etc is a great financial investment, it isn’t.

I purchased a 5712G for ca. £31,700. It wasn’t comfortable so was sold for £28,000 a month later as a PX to watchfinder. Best price by far I was bid. They listed it for £31,900.

I purchased a 5205R for £31,500 before price increase (now retails at ca. £35,500) and when I’ve considered PXing it have been bid £25,000. Would be resold for £30,000. Decided to keep it though as I like it so much.

My data is stale on 5167 and no doubt depressed from a lack of patience but A dealer paid me 15 for a bracelet version - that dissapoited somewhat and I'd say was just before all
These ss models took off about 20 months ago was my transaction

If flippable means Demand for the brand and price retention then this :

Rolex > Patek > AP >>>>>>the rest .

That’s from the most flippable brand to the least ....if you stay on those 3 brands you will be better off than the rest , of course regardless of the brand you still have to buy right.

Very flippable, just buy carefully as my ex decided she wanted a Patek Diamond Ribbon and paid msrp (foolish, i know, but she didn't consult me). She lost about 30% on it when flipping. Not all Pateks gain in value, and remember when you flip you want to do it privately and not through a dealer as that 'costs' you more. Simply find the hot models, reserve your spot with as many dealers as possible and hope you get one (or two).

NEVER WEAR IT as Patek buyers want it double sealed. Any sign of wear will reduce your watch's value. If it is an older Patek, send it in for service, wait 6 months or so for it to come back, then leave it sealed and sell it. jmho
