I just bought a brand new sub date green, went swimming the same day and water got inside fogging up the sapphire and making little bubbles inside of the magnifying glass. The crown was screwed in the way it is supposed to and water still got in. I am so pissed right now because they found one of the gaskets faulty and I'm going on 2 weeks while they decide to send me a brand new one or repair my brand new one. You pay $9000 for a brand new watch and it leaks the first day. The sub is supposedly a divers watch which can handle 300 meters but 2 feet in a pool. I'll keep everyone posted.

I think you deserve a new watch.

Even with the crown unscrewed, the Trip-Lock is supposed to maintain water resistance.

In your case the gasket was faulty out of the box, so the watch was not as advertised.

I understand that Rolex has the prerogative, but this is the kind of thing that is not supposed to happen and it was through no fault of your own.

Richard371, that's where i am at with it. I called rolex HQ in NY and they told me basically that it is up to the AD. They said that the warranty covers this and that they would go through it and repair/replace whatever problems they find OR the AD will replace if they want. Rolex said that they do not necessarily replace even if it's no fault of the purchaser (such as this faulty gasket situation). I'm going too see what happens but the AD is taking their time which is also disgusting.

In this instance I would demand a new watch! Not sure on the laws etc but over here I would class it as not fit for purpose sold and as that would ask for a new one or just my money back and take my business elsewhere.

I don't agree with a lot of these topics when people demand a new watch as their bezel is misaligned or the cyclops is slightly out, any mass produced item will have certain QC failures but this may be just a case of a failed seal but to me the water ingest has pushed it pass the point of no return!

I feel for you, one expects perfection with their Rolex. This is not some cheep Timex watch(I don't hate Timex it's a price reference only). I say it's Rolexs problem, the AD did not make the watch Rolex did. Rolex not the AD should make this right. The watch has been damaged no fault of your own. I am sure Rolex can fix the watch to a good as new state. None the less if it were me I would demand a new watch and a loaner watch to use while they waste your time trying to make up their minds.

Rolex needs to work on their customer service they suck. My wife had some stitching issues with one of her Louis Vuitton purses, we went to the boutique they gave us Moët Champagne and replaced the purse at once no questions asked that was a $2,500 purse not a $9,000 watch. Rolex needs to do the right thing here IMHO.

Let them know you want a new watch or you will file a dispute with your credit card company. Many manufacturing defects don't necessarily cause a lot of major damage and are easy to repair (malfunctioning date wheel, dial defects, etc.), but a failure like this on a brand new watch is catastrophic and a replacement is warranted.

In my opinion it's time for the AD AND Rolex USA to step up.

Wow...this would really suck! I have never had any water intrusion issues w/ any f the Rolex (Sub's or DJ) I have ever purchased! I hope they get you squared away soon, but the idea of you not getting a new watch when you had the watch for virtually hours and it floods, is ridiculous!
