Ah. My bad. Sorry for confusing you. There are no kinds of rules like that anywhere in the US, at least none that I know.

Most of my dress watches are vintage. Omega, Hamilton, Bulova, IWC, Universal, Longines. I don't really consider my TT Date a dress watch because it's on a bracelet. My 6424 is pretty dressy, it's on a chocolate strap.

If I am wearing black or gray it’s my Sub. If I am wearing blue, tan etc I will wear my Omega AT on a blue croc.

Orient Bambino.... I love the dark black. Looks amazing with a tux or black suit.

For me, I would only wear a sub with a suit if it were my only watch, but in my opinion, a dress watch for a suit ideally shouldn't have a bracelet or a date, and should be minimalist. Also the strap color should match the shoes and belt.

my top choices (someday)

• 5196 Calatrava (or similar) would be ideal
• A lange Saxonia thin
• JLC Reverso or JLC MUT
• Various vintage Omegas (or Longines etc.)

In my own modest inexpensive collection I have these:

(this one breaks my rule of having the date, but it still works nicely)
