Get the Aquanaut 5167A at MSRP. It holds value extremely well.

If it's your first Patek you should buy THE ONE YOU LIKE.
Watches are not an investment, they are an expensive toy, unless you can buy a Aquanaut or a Nautilus.

If you found a couple that you like, buy one that had his initial price drop already, has full box and papers, comes from a reputable seller, had full service. Then see if you can haggle the price down some more......

But, sorry to say, if you come on to this forum and ask this question, you are probably not going to do that :P

Get a preowned/BNIB 5196r. It cost like 14k. It’s already been depreciated. With the rest of the money buy a Rolex :)

OP has to go preowned as he is worried about losing some unless he miraculously were to get a 5167 at MSRP. Hardly anything in the catalogue anymore for 20-25k either...

This.
Would stretch for a 5196p if preowned :)

I’d be looking at earlier 5146s - you could probably fine a nice one around the upper end of your $$

And have a watch with complications

You won't get an aquanaut from an AD, they are not even taking names anymore. Find a used one you like, as suggested above, and contact one of our trusted sellers. He will tell you your options.

Brilliant. Make sure you linger and maybe you can get a second glass of champagne as well.

I second this. The 5196r is absolutely gorgeous, and second hand it will be at the right price. Then buy an Explorer and keep the change for your next extravagant purchase.

I would consider the 5296 sector dial. More casual/versatile.

Indeed. My 5196G and Explorer anchor my collection.

5167a From AD is sure out of question that bit I understand ....
Fat-ninja - might go your suggested route though might just save the balance rather then buying 2nd watch
