I agree, it is a nice wine with a smooth finish to it. And the wife likes it, so that always helps!

Looks like I know where the party will be next time!

It’s a great wine for the price point for sure. I’d definitely ease into the 13s - although I am finding them becoming more approachable with less decanting.

Just letting some of this sit in this huge sommelier's glass for a bit for some air then will enjoy it a little later. Can't wait until the beginning of next month, going to pick up a bunch directly at the winery.

If you haven’t had Mersoleil before and like Rambauer or Kistler or big Chards try it, it’s fantastic!

Cheers. Ohhh and GO Pats!!!

88% Cabernet Franc, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, this came out of the bottle like a finely aged Sauvignon but 45 minutes later it really ramped up and became quite bold and powerful. Very impressive. From one of my favorite winemakers.

That Salon should be in a really damn good place now......

You're committing infanticide with the MACD, though......

Congrats on the anniversary!

For sure, but there is no old Mac-D and it was a request so I do what I'm told LOL

Blown away by their stuff and the Andy Erickson's pedigree is beyond reproach. His Syrah blew me away as a young drinker and the cab while tight, just seemed so poised for greater things with a little age.

True. Will be interested to hear how the '14 is. It was "brooding" when I had it a couple years ago with Alex. Recent notes I've seen are it needs a LOOOOOOONG decant.

Sitting down with a "never disappointing" bottle this early afternoon and my vain attempt to keep the serving temp at 65 degrees F. My passion fruit bush in the background, one bush with over 150+ bulbs on it. A friend of mine wants to make wine with it but I'm not so sure my 9 YO daughter will let him have enough pods to do so lol.

Started with a bottle of 2011 Jonata Desafio de Jonata and finished with this with Little Caesar's pizza. I'll let you decide where I put some effort into choosing what we consumed tonight. (2008 Ark)

That stuff is amazing! Bought a case of it on release this year and have maybe three or four left. Very balanced and drinks like a Porsche drives. I'm definitely going to have to stock up on more of that.

I'm giddy as a 5 year old on Xmas right now! Of course Fed Ex shows up riiiiight as my wife pulls in the driveway. I'll probably have one tonight with some steaks that were supposed to be cooked on the other night then put the rest away for a while.

I tried to capture the ruby redness of this in the glass, this is far more forgiving than the 08 I had the other day. The raspberries, cherries and a slight hint of tobacco and maybe even mint are there hiding behind the alcohol. While the alcohol is strong for this one the wine drinks as if the tannins let go just as you swirl this across the younger, very very smooth on the 30 second finish. Let's see what it can do with another hour of decanting. Great all around so far.

Simply...The Wine Thread

A Very Nice Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, IMHO! Was so good with a steak tonight...

Picked it up at 3rd Corner | http://www.the3rdcorner.com/ | in OB for $30! (normally $68 /blt) If you are in San Diego, CA You MUST check out 3rd Corner! Great Prices on Great Wine, Awesome Tastings, Wine Club, BOTTONLESS Mimosas on Sunday Brunch and More!!!!

2013 PRIME Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville

91 POINTS ~ Robert Parker (Dec. 2015)
A sleeper selection for sure, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville, which includes 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Merlot in the blend, shows nice earthy blackcurrant fruit, meatiness and beef blood. The wine is medium to full-bodied with good purity, ripeness and plenty of personality.

Simply...The Wine Thread

^^ that should be fantastic

EDIT:
Chateauneuf du Pape can have up to 15 grapes to blend with granache being most prevalent. And I love the fact they normally are 13-14 % mostly on alcohol content. We just came back from France a few weeks ago and just missed the harvest. Really enjoy this wine and the prices aren’t crazy like Napa either.

Here is the 2007 wine of the year that my brother in law brought back for me, amazing and it was so good the case was gone in a year. I believe it was the 2007 wine of the year.
Insane and first poured it in 2013.

My back up now
All 2009 and 2010’s. Both great years

Hi Roger,
It is small. No more room at the moment for more wineries. And I know you like Pinot Noir and although not really the same it’s light like that. But fruity.

Cheers
