Thoughts on Blancpain Air Command Flyback Chrono Limited Edition?

Never owned a Blancpain although their history definitely intrigues me. Since I saw this first on Hodinkee I felt drawn to it but I never had the chance to see it in person and don’t expect I would anytime soon. I have been in talks with an out of state AD who said they are expecting one and that it is mine if I place a deposit. Has anyone seen this in person? Any thoughts?

Saw it in person a couple months back. It was a standout piece to me. Build quality and finishing was superb (as to be expected from BP). The movement (especially the rotor) provide some added theater as well. Although subjective, I also just think it's a cool looking piece. The only drawback for me was the sizing. At 42.5mm without compact lugs, it just wore too large for my wrist/taste.

Is the F388B a dateless F385 movement?

If this watch had 100M water resistance, it would be absolutely killer. If you don't care about that (I know it is a pilot watch), then I would say go for it!

Does the bezel have play just like the 40mm fifty fathoms

Thank you all for the responses. Really tempted but had too many incomings recently and really need to exercise some self restraint...

Never really felt anything like it, so no real comparison point. It doesn't have notches, so it smoothly rotates around. If it's worth anything, it feels solidly built.

I thought you have milspec. I found on that one, and my kuda that if you apply turning pressure the bezel will move even if you don’t apply enough to hear the click. If that makes sense

Yes, my Milspec does have play.
I was just saying that the air command doesn't have graduated clicks/notches. It just glides smoothly when pressure is applied. So it's not really something I can compare to a dive watch, which has notches for the bezel rotation.
