Incoming....Patek 7234A Singapore Limited Edition 2019
It has been a hectic & productive year for me. And I have been searching for the appropriate watch to reward myself for the milestones and achievements this year.
One model in Baselworld 2018 caught my eyes, the 7234R Calatrava Pilot Travel Time. It’s marketed as a ladies watch because of its 37.5mm size, but I felt this is the right watch for me in terms of diameter as the 42mm (5524G or R) is definitely too big for me. Yet, the watch proves to be elusive as I could only try it for the first time this May 2019 in Bangkok, one year after its release. I hesitated to buy since then and price increase came in June 2019  Hence, I temporarily held off the thought of purchasing it.When the announcement was made in late September 2019 on the new Limited Edition models released for the Patek Watch Art Exhibition 2019 held in Singapore, I could not believe my eyes when the Blue dial 7234A-001 appeared in the Hodinkee post written by Cara Barrett  It’s a Stainless Steel piece, LE (400 pieces) with blue-grayish dial (supposedly representing the blue skies in South East Asia) and blue cordoba strap; all these are first for Patek (first SS Pilot Travel Time watch, first time having the fabric strap)! I contacted the SA of an AD immediately after attending the exhibition in early October and he mentioned that all allocations are to be made by Patek Singapore, not by the ADs or Boutique managers  It’s all right for me anyway Less than 2 months later, on Saturday last week, I received a message saying that there’s good news as I got allocated the 7234A  So I arranged for a Monday pick up and in the midst of heavy rain and thunderstorm in Singapore this afternoon, I finally have this watch in my wrist  A very petite piece but still looks relatively big in my wrist. I love the Travel Time in that size. The pushers give it a bigger look. And the stainless steel makes it very practical for a daily wearer. Congrats!
