Question about 90's GMT II's lume

I have a TT gmt ii it's from '94-96 not exactly sure. i dont know how lume was set up back then in the watches, the only hands that have lume are the seconds hand, gmt hand, and minutes hand. Not the hours hand. Is this normal? No lume on the dial either by the way.

I was told when getting it serviced that this was how they used to be, I honestly do not mind this, but I find it strange that the hour hand lacks lume.

-thanks in advance

Welcome to the Forum!

That is strange, is it a faint or bright lume?

Are you the original owner, if not, do you know if perhaps the watch was serviced and hands were replaced (except the hour hand)? (which would make no sense to replace a couple of the hands)

It might have been replaced, how about the dial? Is that supposed to have lume?

I haven't found any lume pictures of a 90s TT gmt ii, so I can't compare it to anything.

The lume does not last forever.

Here is a thread discussing some of these issues:

It's unusual for there to be any glow left on a mid 90's tritium dial or handset..

If the handset has a faint glow, it is possible that they are original and the hour hand sat in the warehouse a while longer than the other hands.. Tritium matrix paint begins to lose it's power the minute it is mixed, not when the hands are attached to a watch.

If, however, the hands glow brightly when exposed to a light source - they are luminova and not original to the watch..

Thanks for the help! Sadly I still believe that the hour hand was replaced because it is perfectly clean, whilst the seconds, gmt, and minutes all have the lume "junk" on them.
