daytona 6265

Opinions? I noticed no model or serial between the lugs. Did that begin after the 70s?

I see both the serial and model #'s but very faintly. Isn't the 6265 supposed to have a steel bezel? Why does it have the 6263 bezel? Some other red-flags are poping up including the dial and movement, I wouldn't buy a vintage Daytona without expert valuation period.

Yes, but not ALWAYS:

"The 6263 (Fig. 8 & 9) had a black bezel while the 6265 (fig10 & 11) had a metal bezel. It is interesting to know that many Rolex dealers would switch bezel on these models at the request of the client. Thus, today, we can find these Daytona with a different bezel configuration. Both watches could have a back/white subdials dial or a Silver/Black subdials (also known as Panda with a black bezel, fig 8)."
