On PP website, go to watch finder, and under complications check the box with chronograph. That’s where I’d start.

No, Rolex Skydweller is more complicated. As for value/premium/popularity then yes you could compare the Daytona with the 5711.

Well since Patek does not make a simple chronograph without a date a 5990 or 5968 probably would be closest since they are in stainless steel.

Didn't John Mayer compare the 5970 to the Daytona in the first Talking Watches?

You mean what is PP's most sought after model with the highest aftermarket price? That would be the 5711.

I would buy a nice preowned 5196. Limited downside and always in style.

There are many answers to your original question.

What is the watch used as bait for pp collectors to spend money on stuff they don't want? 5711

What is the halo sports watch? 5740G

What is the hard to get sports chronos from Patek? 5990 and 5768.

I think that is a fine watch for dress purposes, but it is everything a Daytona isn’t.

5196 is manual wind; Daytona is auto.
Also no chronograph, and unrepresentative of a sports/professional model.

I believe the OPs question defies a singular answer due to mixing functionality with hype.

It’s tough to get the equivalent of a daytona... if wait until April and line up for the new PP0401

Sorry. I was answering as I am waiting to go home... so my numbers may not be accurate

But I think Thomasapp is right

Yeah that’s def true but it is unlikely to take a beating like an AC and it’s as classic as they come.

There is no safe money buys in Patek for newcomers to the brand. End of story.

The 5146 is priced higher than the 5711 at MSRP, and no, it won't hold value unless you are referring to the 5164.

I think the new 5212 can hold its value like a sub or GMT.

Agreed with others than the 5711 is the Daytona of PP.

The Aquanauts are the SS Skydwellers of PP, in terms of value retention. In terms of complication, the 6300 is the equivalence of Skydweller.

Yes, I think that is the closest all round to a Daytona, but the 5711 is the equivalent lightning rod watch for the brand.
