Thanks guys for all of your comments and feedback.

I definitely could see how the green tropical strap may not be ideal for others.

After a few days of wearing my 5167a with the green here are some additional thoughts:

--For those of you who are still wearing their original OEM black tropical strap, I didn't realize how nicely my other black tropical was worn in :bang head:

So, if you have a new OEM strap (green, black and/or brown), you may want to size up 1 slot, break it in and then size down. I'm not concerned, because after 5 straight days of wear 24 hrs daily, it's definitely loosened a bit. I firmly believe it will mold to the exact shape of my other black band. In fact, I actually used some of my Vareat rubber watch cleaner which seemed to helped as well.

--Maybe it's just summer and a more casual time of year, but I absolutely love the color combination and how it makes the green strap makes it even more of a casual watch !

--I do believe that an individual's skin tone could be a potential factor when a person decides if the green strap is for them or not. I am of a lighter brown skin complexion and I believe the green khaki is a warm combination for myself. I never really felt comfortable with the 5167R due to the brown strap/chocolate dial combination on my brown skin tone, it just didn't appeal to my eye.

I'll try to grab some pics in some formal attire later this month.

Have a great evening, David

Very interesting. What watch does the green strap typically come with, or is it just an alternative for the regular Aquanaut? Anyone have a pic of the brown strap in a 5167a?

I caught a little lume the other day while parking the car.

Thanks Mik!

It's funny, it was this same Sothesbys auction for the green khaki 5167 that spurned me to inquire whether a green strap could be sourced.

Begs the question if Patek will start to make more green khaki 5167 dials in the near future?

My gut is that they would sell just fine

Best, David

Super if you like it and it works for you! It's definitely different but I will personally stick to the black on mine. Enjoy the new strap.

Looks great Dave!!! Thinking about ordering one myself. Do you change strap yourself or have an ad do it for you. I've read it's risky doing it yourself. If so what tool do you use? Thanks

5164 has it's own green strap from what I understand.

Thanks Sam!

Yeah, I size and change all of my tropical straps. At first, I was a bit reluctant to do so, but after reading Puffy's tutorial and taking considerable time, it all worked out.

Here is a link to the thread:

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...highlight=5167

You'll need a spring bar tool, I use the Bergeon No. 6111 which can be purchased at Otto Frei.

Here's what my set-up look like (you can see Puffy's tutorial on my phone in the background for reference):

Let me know if have any questions. All the best, David

Mik,

Go for it! It my humble it opinion, the green khaki adds an even more sporty feel to the 5167a, a welcoming sense of casualness as well.

You won't be disappointed!

Best, David
